Highlights from Occult Humanities Conference 2025:
My presentation “On the Threshold of a Cosmic Self: Re-Spiritualizing Art After the Postmodern.”
It’s much older than Blavatsky’s Theosophy though. The square is Saturn, the material/manifested world. But square’s association with green is uniquely 19th century Theosophy
It’s from the Secret Doctrine, Vol 2

Reading the paired texts is very illuminating. Seems like she’s trying to harmonize pre-modern and modern metaphysics while allowing space for a Christian perspective of the whole thing. It’s all very Anthroposophical…

I’ve never looked at this series closely before. Her use of the cross is really striking and in tension with the images of her work typically circulating.

“Beginning with the discovery of Uranus in 1781… the revelations of the outer planets marked a time of unprecedented change in our understanding of the cosmos & our relationship to it.”
Installing Jupiter conjunct Saturn @prslosangeles.bsky.social
Oh that’s fascinating. Here’s an article from 1884 that will give you context and clarify the importance.
blavatsky.net/precipitation/
Thank you. “Precipitation” in the Spiritualist sense was the primary way “letters from the Masters” manifested. Curious if she’s describing a similar phenomena.
A sublime through-line.
“Which four people have had the biggest influence on your thinking?”
“a document sheet is dropped from above…”
Is she saying here it was precipitated?
The Divine Harmony: The Friend of all that lives and breathes
from Alan Leo’s Esoteric Astrology, 1913
Ahh @bsky.app you’ve labeled this as “Adult Content” because of the thumbnail? Charming.
Our presentation on the esoteric manuscript of W.W. Harmon’s is now online.
Proud of my contribution here, an investigation into the “Central Spiritual Sun” depicted in the manuscript and artworks by af Klint, Fröbe-Kapteyn, Bisttram, and others.

Bartholdi clearly intended these resonances. I like the idea we can simply acknowledge this as fact and consider instead why he chose to monumentalize these ancient symbols at the opening of Modernity.
It’s Isis. The veil of Isis, the light of Isis, etc. Isis as the wisdom of Egypt transmitted to the East. /
It’s usually described as an Egyptian peasant, often a slave, “unshackled and bringing the light of Egypt to Asia.” But if you look it at, she’s clearly wearing a crown. /
TIL: The sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi (a French Freemason), previously designed another monumental statue. It was intended for the mouth of the Suez Canal but never realized. /
I remember Borthwick’s paper being quite illuminating:

Lovely that you are sharing this and rising above the endless drama. Wider access to the journals remains an obstacle for greater, public understanding of her intentions.
A dream
Theo, do you know of any publications or books specifically about Grau’s artwork?
Wishing you light and love on this longest night. Brighter days ahead.
