According to the GFS 120 hour forecast we're actually at 150% of normal snowpack for the season instead of 50%

I donβt like the idea of kids going to school in the pitch black in winter. It will be interesting to see if this sticks. I predict it lasts less than 5 years.
Iβd be fine reducing standard time by a month and springing forward in early Feb.
Then they will change to Permanent Standard Time and people will complain when dawn is at 3 AM in summer.
We change the clocks for a reason, leave it alone!
Wow, that's crazy! Y'all are gonna regret that!

The #1 priority should be a proper hub at CID. Who cares what any of the stations look like if there isn't an easy way to transfer to the other lines.
There are more people in the WS walksheds than Roosevelt, 130th, or Northgate had before that extension was built.
Avalon could have been developed to look like Roosevelt does now if leaders in this city had any vision.
The issue all along was priorities, Ballard should have been first.
Seattle may wake up to some snow showers on the hills on Tuesday morning with snow levels expected to be around 250 ft. Minimal accumulation expected.
There will be another chance or two in the morning hours this week, otherwise weβll likely finish with a snowless winter.
Grazalema, Spain, received over 2,000 mm (78 inches) of rain in just the last 20 days.
Over a yearβs worth of rain β and itβs only early February. This is hydrologically absurd.
In Seattle we take to the streets when our sports teams win. Until the βdonβt walkβ comes on. Then we take to the sidewalks.
How cold has this winter been so far? The first 2/3 of winter 2025-26 is the 7th warmest on record for the Contiguous U.S.

I agree and we donβt even need to project this forward, just look at the frequency and severity of winter storms 100 years ago vs recently.
I've seen several Big Climate Accountsβ’ post about how the recent winter storm was made worse by climate change. It's a convenient narrative.

But what is "worse"? Colder temperatures? More snow? More freezing rain? Is there any primary literature supporting the idea of worse snowstorms?

I've grown to like e-biking better than regular biking since I can better keep up with traffic and use hills to get around dangerous areas.
Got it fixed but that was a funny software glitch

The cold/dry spell is nearly over for Seattle.
The next pattern shift will bring seasonal precipitation and above normal temperatures.
It will really feel like spring by the first week of February.
The mountain snowfall outlook is bleak.
The stop numbers are a good idea that is terribly implemented
Snowpack in Washington and Oregon is so bad that a normal February and March would result in a recovery to just the ~10th percentile of historical years. More in the CZ blog...

The last 5-6 days of T/Td at my house had almost no diurnal cycle while we were stuck under an inversion.
Today the warmth aloft finally mixed down to the ground and the temp is soaring into the mid-50s.
The challenge is that nobody can plan for light rail because it's been over a dozen times now that the project scope and/or timeline has changed. My read is that they were holding out for relocation benefits and they finally gave up with the latest ongoing redesign of the Delridge segment.
"...and the building has since fallen into disrepair. Ultimately, this has made the center less appealing and increasingly challenging for customers to visit. Because of these circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to close this location.β
According to them: "Over the past several years, the building was expected to be purchased by Sound Transit. As often is the case at the last minute, Sound Transit withdrew its offer to purchase the complex. As a result of the anticipated sale, no improvements were made during that time, ..."

If past Sound Transit CEOs gave the same answer, we'd have ST3 light rail projects under construction in Seattle right now.
