Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrowβs budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me πWeβre just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. Itβs been a roaring success. For every β¬1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got β¬1.46 back. Canβt argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."
Damn. This is amazing. Β£325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Thereβs just not enough attention being paid to how unqualified, psychologically unfit, and dangerous so many of these new ICE hires potentially are.
If we had a Congress, thereβd be investigations & oversight into this.
Claim: 10 cars rammed ICE
Truth: No cars rammed ICE

Truth: ICE boxed her in

Truth: Only ICE fired

this is a state sponsored terrorist operation being laid out on an american and every one in ICE needs to be treated as if they are terrorists after trumps regime is over
Authoritarianism.
Is that term just too many letters for people
Other animals have big teeth, or cool camouflage, or the power of flight, and our superpower is the ability to work together and share information, and I think that's beautiful, no matter how many people try to pretend it's not real.
here's my take: I think humans are really fucking good. inherently. I think we are amazingly kind and giving. and everything about the world we live in is an attempt to stop us from being that. I think our societies step in to stop us from being good. I think our culture punishes us. but we ARE good
@StephenM on X: Legal insurrection. The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, not an Oregon judge. Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life. (There are more local law enforcement officers in Oregon than there are guns and badges in the FBI nationwide). This is an organized terrorist attack on the federal government and its officers, and the deployment of troops is an absolute necessity to defend our personnel, our laws, our government, public order and the Republic itself.
Everyone is trying to have a normal Saturday night and the president's top advisor is on X announcing that civil war is necessary
@Sec_Noem on X: Chicago, weβre here for you.
If you showed this tweet to James Madison, he would be like, "yes, this is why I wrote the 2nd Amendment"
What if the problemβ just hear me outβwhat if itβs not a failure to listen to each other? What if, stay with me now, what if we HAVE listened, and weβve heard lies and nonsense and frankly scary proposals (coupled with scary actions), and get this, hold on, we just fundamentally disagree?
If you havenβt been paying attention to the EA takeover because youβre not a gamer, hereβs why it should concern you anyway.

We the people must never accept government threats to our freedom of speech. Efforts by leaders to pressure artists, journalists, and companies with retaliation for their speech strike at the heart of what it means to live in a free country. Last week, Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air after the government threatened a private company with retaliation, marking a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation. In an attempt to silence its critics, our government has resorted to threatening the livelihoods of journalists, talk show hosts, artists, creatives, and entertainers across the board. This runs counter to the values our nation was built upon, and our Constitution guarantees. We know this moment is bigger than us and our industry. Teachers, government employees, law firms, researchers, universities, students and so many more are also facing direct attacks on their freedom of expression. Regardless of our political affiliation, or whether we engage in politics or not, we all love our country. We also share the belief that our voices should never be silenced by those in power β because if it happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. This is the moment to defend free speech across our nation. We encourage all Americans to join us, along with the ACLU, in the fight to defend and preserve our constitutionally protected rights.
A graphic listing the names of the more than 400 signers of the ACLU's letter condemning the federal government's retaliation against Jimmy Kimmel. For the full list of signatories, visit aclu.org/kimmel-letter-bk
