I couldn't agree more that motor speech is important in a wide range of SSDs and, I think that crucially, phonology vs "motor" is a completely false dichotomy. However, changing clinical practice to move away from perception based approaches is a massive task with serious implementation challenges

I think I've managed to be cited on both sides of the argument in this paper- via our recent work advocating for adoption of Dodd's diagnostic system across the UK and, conversely, via my instrumental work on convert contrasts.
