I'm a former Vim user who now lives in Emacs and currently uses Doom as a simple way to make things work reasonably with my "evil" vim* keybindings. It's worth a try at least.
(*now I'm actually fairly dependent on the keybindings Spacemacs calls "hybrid" - Vim in normal mode, Emacs in insert mode)
