I’m happy to be in MD where my reps are fighting the good fight, but are R reps getting the same volume of calls? Seriously though, did every last one of them get paid off? If there’s a price where anyone would turn to corruption, a certain person can afford to pay it.

It’s a weird time to be a parent. I gave advice to my kid for a class, sent her to school, and now catching up on the collapse of our society. Like, maybe don’t even go to school if the future is less college, more Hunger Games. Faking optimism while hoping our elected leaders weren’t ALL paid off.
Babies and little kids at the library make up for the less enjoyable encounters. Two weeks ago, a patron was screaming at me and ruined my day. But today, a 2 year old yelled “boooooks!” while running towards the children’s area. I didn’t even tell him to use walking feet. He needed to get there.
It would be nice to see mainstream media acknowledge that every alarmist in their ranks about Trump and his henchmen has been correct, and every single "Let's all calm down" guy--a posture of blasé detachment that is consistently over-rewarded in legacy media--has called it wrong from day one.
If they’re going to double down on shitty efforts, we’re done until they come to their senses. It was convenient and fun to get what we needed and usually some fun little extra thing, but honestly, I wasted money on unnecessary things every trip. Thanks for making it easy to quit you, Target.
Yup. It makes me sad. This was always a fun little outing with my kid. She knows we are reigning things in for multiple reasons, but this one cements it. (Have your book checked out from the library now!)

I can def stop buying unnecessary things at stores like Target (but will continue to support minority owned businesses’ products there.) but where am I supposed to buy necessary home improvement products if Lowe’s does this and Home Depot is out? Local contractors lean right too.

I’m glad I chose to watch that Bal/Buff game alone at home instead of with husband and his family. Like, yeah that was a bummer, but my nervous system would not have been able to handle to yelling at the television. Anyway, go Commanders I guess?
My TikTok experience is officially over. I deleted because I’m sure the “savior” of the platform isn’t doing this for the fun of it all.
One thing I loved about Twitter was the ability to mute words. Bluesky made it better. I can choose a length of time to mute words. For the next seven days, my feed will not show me anything with a certain person’s name. A few may slip by if he is only named with colorful language, but that’s okay.
every so often I feel compelled to point out that interlibrary loan is a goddamn miracle. If you have a library card and can wait a little while, you can have in your hands just about any book you want.* just because there’s going to be another library out there that says “Sure, we’ll send it.” 📚

I saw Wicked alone because my kid saw it with a friend and my husband would not have been the best companion for this one. People were dressed cute like they were on dates. I wore sweats and had my hair in a bun. Giving zero effs might look like depression, but it’s the happiest I’ve been all week.
Wicked was excellent. I enjoyed the play but this was greatness. Cynthia Erivo: best Elphaba ever. So excited for part two.
