I got a discount code for sales of my book in March!

there's a madman in the white house, he's illegally started a war, he's offered no explanation to the public other than an insane conspiracy theory that Iran somehow tried to interfere in last year's election, and the opposition leaders are releasing statements full of mixed support and concern
It never ceases to confound me just how many folks think the point of essays is to provide teachers with essays. That teachers just like, collect them, or need them for sustenance or something. Rather than the point of them being the *actual fucking act of learning how to think about shit*
Finally sat down to re-watch all of these together with accompanying creator statements and wow, they're all just such a fascinating illustration of videographic craft. Well worth an hour or so of your time. www.screenworks.org.uk/archive/volu...
Same. It feels so sterile and unspecific.
Was nodding my head and shuddering with equal force.
This article manages to synthesize so many things I've been raging about when it comes to the new breed of Silicon Valley tech bros and AI evangelism--essentially, "forget about skill or talent, just be the loudest asshole in the room and rich idiots will give you money." harpers.org/archive/2026...
So NJ lawmakers wrote a bill to rein in ICE.
And this is what they called it.

She really does elevate everything she's in.

Shoutout to the peer reviewers and development editors at JCMS for being really professional and kind (it IS possible for this process to not suck!).
It's out! Check out my article, "From Analog to Interactive Haunting: Fake Documentary 'Q' and the Remediation of Japanese Horror" in JCMS. If you don't have access to JCMS message me here or email me and I'll happily send you a copy. quod.lib.umich.edu/j/jcms/issues/
The outside wall is decorated with doors, stairs and ladders
An "emergency exit" painted on a side wall.
Mural decorated like a real estate apartment layout sheet.
Wall has bookcases connected with ladders. Figures are reading, and reaching for books.

Woooow this looks amazing.
Brilliant, one of the great single take POV shots. 😀
It happened again.
This time it's @dailykos.com who is publishing a plagiarized AI-generated slop version of my work, brazenly right down to the title, "A Field Guide to Japanese Yokai" which is lifted directly from my book "The Night Parade of One Hundred Demons: A Field Guide to Japanese Yokai."
Image shows a small child curled in the fetal position, surrounded by debris and viewed from above.
Image shows the silhouette of a man and small child in a distant doorway surrounded by blackness.
Really enjoyed Exit 8! Very stylishly directed, just the right length, a solidly crafted atmosphere of unease, a few unexpectedly terrifying images in the latter half, and some really lovely shots.
To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.
She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.
It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.
It is so, so telling that these AI evangelists all talk about their slop in terms of number of books, word count, and 'winning a race.'
Snowy day in Tokyo, made this, it was great, also made a simple ponzu-chives-chili flakes dipping sauce to go with it. onehappybite.com/chicken-esse...
God I love this title.
Was so thrilled to be a part of this, learned a lot and am very excited to see my video essay in Screenworks.
To echo others, I have written a few dozen recommendation letters/email recommendations in my 12 years of university teaching and of fucking course I have NEVER felt the need to describe a student's physical appearance in any of them, what the actual fuck...
Same. The cheaper the costume the better.
Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.
It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
Finally saw 28 Years Later last night and now I'm so excited for The Bone Temple!
