The administrators of Columbia, Penn, Brown will do their best one day to gaslight us into believing they did the best they could, but itβs harder when others made different choices.
Blue wave watch: Democrat flips Trump +17 Texas Senate seat in 32-point swing

BREAKING: Texas Democrat Taylor Rehmet just won a *massive* landslide to flip a deep-red Senate district. He's up by 14 points in a Trump+17 seatβan overperformance of more than 30 points.
How did he do it? Here's our full writeup:

The @nytimes.com Lost Science series continues. Here's my Q&A with a scientist who was studying how wildfire smoke threatens human health when the EPA decided that her research was no longer a funding priority. Gift link: nyti.ms/4jhpw14

You seem to have heard correctly
Hearing this is payback for Colorado not honoring Trump/Peters βpardonβ
National Security Advisor Pelt to Ohio State, but about 13-10s
Ohio State to Michigan, "You can't beat me 13-10 again."
Michigan, "no...[points at massive bison in the background] but he can."
Very cool! Looking forward to reading!
Postdoc opening: airborne NH3 measurements
Join our team! The UMN atmospheric chemistry group is recruiting a postdoc to collect and analyze airborne NH3 measurements as part of NASA FarmFlux.
See z.umn.edu/aw67 for details, & contact Julieta (junco004@umn.edu) and I (dbm@umn.edu) with questions!
Longtime TPM reader and aerosol scientist, if I took one lesson from the past 5 years it is the importance of ventilation/dilution (i.e., cracking a window), amazing how quickly a sealed room fills (CO2, PM, etc.)
Try a CO2 monitor in your car with air recirculating (which is default for most cars when AC on), it is amazing to see how quickly it can hit >5,000. No wonder folks get so tired on long drives. As scientists studying indoor and outdoor air quality, we really need to get the word out better on this.
To Arctic explorers out there!,this article journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal... just got published in BAMS! It provides highlight of CHACHA project! @biometlab.bsky.social @paulstoy.bsky.social @eliebz.bsky.social @profdesai.bsky.social @andrewpault.bsky.social @ametsoc.org

If the Supreme Court killed the Voting Rights Act by early January, Republicans in several Southern states would likely have enough time before the 2026 elections to re-gerrymander their congressional maps and target Black Democrats whose seats are currently protected by the VRA
Very happy to see this paper out! This has been a fun collaboration between @mcneill-lab.org and the Grassian group at UCSD. We are moving closer towards model representations of this intriguing size dependent microdroplet chemistry. Modeling by @sandhyasethuraman.bsky.social !
Very cool!
A ton of effort goes into tracking special elections on our Big Board, so we're always grateful when people cite us by name and link us. This dataβespecially the presidential results, which we calculate by handβdoesn't grow on trees!
Ds now running 15.7 pts ahead of 2024. In 2017-18, it was D+10.6.
Today, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors proclaimed September 9, 2025, to be βDr. Kimberly Prather and Dr. Paula Stigler Granados Dayβ in the County of San Diego. Supervisor and Scripps alumna Paloma Aguirre authored the proclamation. Congrats to @kprather.bsky.social and Paula!
Evidently this needs to be said:
Do not spray nitric acid into the air in the hopes of limiting viral transmission.
More pollution is not the solution. At all.
