Out on a group run yesterday. Talk on the trails kept returning to durability of trainers, or lack of. 👟
Many complaining of only getting a couple hundred kms out of their shoes before problems arise.
This isn’t good enough. We need daps that last.
What brands & models should people avoid?
Sadly I am away - but enjoy Suffolk 🤘🏼
Kittiwake, which is a bit like a seagull 😁 And a Purple Sandpiper, which is a wader
Day one of my jollies in Suffolk. Year ticks of Purple Sandpiper & Kittiwake. Yet another Shore Lark dip 💛
51 species so far. Barn Owl would be very welcome on the one hour walk to find my digs. Wish me luck 🙏

Naff boc shots, but the Willet on Boa Vista showed nicely today. All gearing up nicely for the pelagics off Fogo next week, hopefully some quality sea-birding here on Cape Verde to come...
Apparently patch birding does all come good in the end. 1w Ring-billed Gull this evening and glad some people managed to connect after my rather garbled attempt at putting news out. Blog post to follow #ukbirding
Finally got round to finishing my last #FootIt blog post. Just 10 months till we can do it all again...

Came across 6 Russian Whitefronts amongst a pleasing total of 2,423 Greenlands on Kintyre today: one at Laggan and 5 at Rhunahaorine. Chalk and cheese #goosing #birdingscotland
Great fun & nice speaking to these two this evening
Great day @hilbrebirdobs.bsky.social today with @steveonhilbre.bsky.social. The run of Stonechats continues with 1 ringed & this colour ringed bird photographed on Middle Eye. Ringed in August 2026 on Mull!

Great sighting this morning in #Malaga, a Ring billed gull!! She was a 2 cy bird, third for me in 26 years! Have a beer for me! : ) #Gulls #Teamgull #Idbirds #Photography
Day 3 for the Bonaparte's Gull on Barra. It's very much a loner, shunning local foraging flocks of gulls but continuing to give incredible close views from time to time. #birdingscotland #RareBirdsUK
Massive #FootIt year ✅️ mind! Anyone else dropped that on foot this year?!
White-billed Diver off Inverkeithing

Distant White-billed Diver in-front of Inchmickery Island
Two White-billed Divers still present, between Inverkeithing & Carlingnose Point this morning, then one closer to Inverkeithing harbour, the other much more distant in front of Inchmickery Is.

Two sites visited today in different Hectads, a 6 count in a Typha swamp & an 8 at an industrial SUDS pool.

Class paps them - what a pooch 👏
A magic moment all to myself, as the White Billed Diver popped up in front of my shore level vantage point over the Blyth Estuary this afternoon.

Acrylic sketch of one of today’s Lesser spots.
Was just chatting about Snowcock this other day! Still mot visited one of these raptor bottlenecks. Firmly on the to-do list! Work just gets right in the way of my birding 🤣
Sharing a few photos from volunteering with @batumiraptorcount.org in Georgia last autumn! Highlights include counting 100,000+ birds in a day, stunning Oriental HBs & of course the wonderful people! 🦅💛🇬🇪
The Ross’s Gull in Newlyn Harbour today (23rd Feb). Present for third day and seems settled in the harbour and Wherrytown area.
Well worth a visit, along with the Pacific Diver, 2 Lesser Scaup, R N Duck, Kumlien’s Gull, Bonaparte’s, 2 Dusky’s and a Little Bunting😉

White-tailed Eagle this morning at Holywell pond, after looking for it all day yesterday without luck, we struck gold this morning when it flew over our heads. #NEbirding #RarebirdsUK #UKbirding
I eagerly await her return each year & this morning, there she was! 🥰 #Curlew CJ6 ringed as a chick in central #Finland in 2012, this is her 13th spring staging on the #AlstonWetland patch. 3-4 weeks fattening up on #Lancashire's finest earthworms then she'll be off once again. #waders #shorebirds
