Is the "publish or perish" culture at the center of the troubles we're experiencing in scientific publishing? Or is it actually because of the growing corporate greed of the big publishers?
What do you think #AcademicSky?

Dear academics
We could dramatically reduce our administrative workload if we all just agreed not to ask for reference letters until we made our list of finalists.

It is definitely a hard endeavor! Erin Buchanan and I are working on a paper rn that defines BTS. We started with a version of it called Who BTS (itβs available on Osf) where we arbitrarily define it.. so now we are testing our definition.
Super stoked to see the new study submissions and what our assistant directors have in store for the PSA!

the fallout from the Francesca Gino research misconduct scandal isn't over. @engber.bsky.social writes about how an effort by some of her colleagues to self-audit their work with her ended up raising even more questions β for them personally and their whole field www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...
New in NHB: We systematically replicated 26 of 41 PNAS social science studies that used MTurk. The approach provides a proof-of-concept for using decision markets to select findings to replicate.
Replication effect sizes were 45% of original effect sizes.

Thanks! This is one of the closest Iβve found but I havenβt found any looking at the morality/personality aspects of the research accused of doing QRPs.
Also, shoutout to @juliabottesini.com @mijke.bsky.social and @simine.com for a stellar paper.
All right #psychskyβ¦ who knows of papers looking at how researchers taking part in QRPs are perceived? So far, Iβve found some stellar one on researchers views on QRPsβ¦

I have been thinking of doing a meta-science one but havenβt made it that far yet!
Well the cat just went marching by me with a funfetti cupcake in her mouth so that's a fun way to learn my wife made them and that the cat will eat them if left unattended
Social psych studies are getting crazy again.
This time, instead of ridiculous conclusions, they are written with 10 studies, 60,000 people, and written in so complicated a way that it is nearly impossible to figure out what is happening from one study to the next.
