Man the "gamergate destroyed society" ppl have been vindicated like a zillion times over the past year
Epstein is the most garish and harrowing manifestation of this but oligarchy makes life miserable in a thousand other ways. A core point of democracy is that no one should have so much power that they can make themselves everybody's problem. We should have a political party that believes that
(and just to be extra clear, I think it's absolutely fine to say "I hate how that character arc ended"--where I think we lose the plot is when that morphs into "the creators hate abuse victims because they didn't wrap my comfort character in a blanket and give them hot cocoa at the end")
This is inspired by the responses to the ST finale, but also OFMD, Supernatural, etc. Listen, I love a happy ending! I want my favorite characters to thrive! And there are many choices in those I disagree with. But it's not inherently "problematic" to give a character a complicated or tragic ending.
So many modern fandoms seem to believe that characters who have experienced suffering are owed a happy/comfortable ending, and it's morally repugnant if they don't get one. I think this is anti-art! I don't agree that it's the responsibility of fiction to make sure everyone gets what they deserve.
Is Christmas Eve.
Donβt forget to leave a bowl of water and treats for Santa tonight!
This was entirely about purging a trans instructor from the school and they succeeded. It was aided by a lot of dumb liberals taking it at face value arguing the minutia of grading rubrics while ignoring the obvious bad faith efforts behind this.
Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe is saved from being the worst movie I've seen in 2025 by the fact that I also saw The Electric State but jesus, it should not be that close.
I don't normally post other people's podcast episodes when I appear on them (I save that for them and reposting) but this episode of @faeriviera.bsky.social's podcast was an absolute delight to be on.
Almost makes up for how agonizing the movie was.

Reaching out again with a mutual aid request, trying to make it through the next week. Anything helps, even just sharing this post when you see it. Thank you!
I don't really post much anymore but I just have to give a big shoutout to @tonygoldmark.bsky.social because no joke, thanks to your cover of "We Will All Go Together When We Go", I was able to get a dear friend of mine out of a panic spiral.
The latest episode of The Biggest Night in Podcasting is up on youtube and spotify. I got to talk about Around the World in Eighty Days with @faeriviera.bsky.social and my good friend Todd, a movie that we can definitely understand why it won Best Picture.

PANEL 1: A guy sporting a pin shaped like a monster leans over to a big glass tube full of skin in the close foreground. GUY: Hey Geoff. I see you're not wearing a Bone Farmer memorial pin? PANEL 2: GEOFF, the skin pile, starts to talk, over the shoulder of the GUY. GEOFF: I mean, it'd be kind of tough toβ GUY: It's bone farmer memorial day. GUY: We're all remembering all the good stuff he did. PANEL 3: The GUY dabs away a tear. GEOFF: Like what? Name one thing. GUY: Shh! I'm remembering it all right now. Silently. PANEL 4: THE GUY, dialing a phone. GUY: It's like you don't even know the rules of the day? GUY: I'm going to call the cops.
