i’m oddly stressed out rn
So everyone in PFX has painted nails except Oliver
I find it really funny that we know that Ann and Al paint their nails from only A SINGULAR VISIBLE FINGERNAIL from both of them lol
I mentioned this idea before but I need to incorporate this into a comic because I think about it a lot but Hio being shy and he’s like “no!! I’m not ready!!! don’t look at me!!!! 😩” so he manifests so many sparkles that he’s blinding and Ruby’s like “bro NOBODY is looking at you”
It’s so interesting, I wonder if a resurgence is going to happen haha
I do see new fans pop up every once in a while though so maybe one day something will happen
I have to remember that in the greater scheme of the vocaloid sphere that these old people are IRRELEVANT but they feel so very alive to me haha
sometimes I grieve the fact that engloid-related fan creations are lowkey in a drought rn and have been for the past year or two due to lack of interest from casual fans and many of the people I knew have either moved on to new fandoms or moved on with their lives so don’t participate in fandoms
yohioloid should be put into a blender and deconstructed into a soup recipe
I should probably learn more music production and music theory so I can make covers faster
i am so picky it takes me a long while to be confident in my merch designs haha sorry
Tbh my note on “kind of unpredictable” also comes from what I hear about SynthV updates and the voices randomly changing a whole bunch agjdkfkfk
a i synthesis
pros:
- super super realistic
cons:
- kind of unpredictable 😭 have you ever used V6…
- sounds like dying metal vocalists when when it fails
concatenative synthesis
pros:
- pretty realistic
cons:
- takes a lot of storage space cuz you have to store all the sound data
- pretty limited to the recorded sound data
so I would think that
Formant synthesis
pros:
- very versatile
- probably doesn’t take up 3 GB of data
cons:
- kind of robotic depending on how it’s done
- sometimes sounds bad
- old
Not that I know much about A I vocal synthesis but I was kind of thinking on the three main forms of vocal synthesis that I know about and their pros and cons
Formant synthesis obviously being THE BEST THE GOAT THE GREATEST (jk I’m just joking)

Yah so combine all of this with sound generators and band pass filters and EQ filters and you get poor man’s formant synthesis
so you need harmonics because if you just had a sine wave (makes a pure sound that with no harmonics) there wouldn’t really be anything for the formants to boost lol
tbh this is just a bad explanation of speech acoustics in general
and then consonants are produced with NOISEEEE and and SILENCE and TIMING and voicing
voicing being when the vibration of the vocal cords occurs, some consonants are voiced and some aren’t
okay that’s all i feel like explaining thanks for reading
and then the formants are documented in Hz and stuffs ya
anyway
so having different formant frequencies will give you different vowels
F3 and beyond determine the color and character of the sound and it’s notable in stuff like r-colored vowels
so imagine this is a spectrum analyzer like what you would see when looking at an EQ program
F0 is the fundamental frequency, the note being sung
F1 is the first formant
F2 is the second formant
F3 is the third formant and so on
okay anyway
a formant is an area in the harmonics/frequency spectrum (sorry i don’t know the right term) where there is more energy or where it’s louder
the first two formants are the most important for vowel sounds
so the synthesized voice is made with two main sound sources
- a buzzing sound (mimics the vibrating vocal cords)
- noise — like white noise (simulates air flow/breathiness)
it’s important that the buzzing sound generates harmonics though (sounds on top of the fundamental pitch)
let me poorly explain the basics of formant synthesis for anyone here who knows nothing about it
i don’t know much about formant synthesis other than the basics of how it works and some of its history but the concept of it scratches my brain
tbh maybe i should look into chipspeech because of the whole vibe going on there dhkfhg
