Wrong. Conservatism is the belief that there are in groups who the law protects but does not bind, and out groups who the law binds but does not protect. Conservatism is fully compatible with the fascism we see now.

Mr. Eliason, who advocates allowing single-stair construction for small multifamily buildings as a solution to the housing crisis, said he learned how common the design was outside the United States while working in Germany in 2019.

After seeing an 11-story tower his firm at the time had designed, Mr. Eliason recalled, he turned to his boss and said: "Something is wrong here. Where's your other stair?"

"He's looking at me, and said: 'What are you talking about? If there was another stair, there wouldn't be any room for the homes'"

Single-stair gets the New York Times treatment. @holz-bau.bsky.social reminds us why they call the last line the kicker: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/04/b... (gift link)

We can’t clean up Washington without restoring integrity to the Supreme Court.

That’s why I believe we should expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices. And then, institute term limits.

Because an appointment to the Supreme Court shouldn’t mean a lifetime lack of accountability.

Cities lose so much in property tax generation, cost of utility construction and lost transit fare revenue by refusing to allow density in most of the city

Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city β€” you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders.Β You will be safe here.

If the major Democratic donors took even 25% of the $1B they gave to the Harris campaign and used that to build out their own news operation, it would be a massive benefit to the country *and* to Democratic candidates.

Newark Grants New Approvals to Four-Tower Ironbound Iberia Development | Jersey Digs A massive Newark project encompassing over 1,400 residential units has been greenlit once more following some minor changes after a lawsuit.

A huge redevelopment with 1,408 apartments has been re-approved by the Newark Central Planning Board. The original approval was blocked by a lawsuit from a left-NIMBY coalition last year, but the four towers, rising to 30 and 26 stories, can now be built. jerseydigs.com/450-market-s...

One of the reasons I think Newsom will prove himself juiceless in any primary (if he makes it that far) is that there is no actual market among Dem primary voters for this kind of Yglesias-brained, internet-poisoned triangulating.

I agree and also NO NO NO. It would not be hard for Massachusetts to close Burlington. It is out of compliance with several codes. The reason Mass politicians won't close it is a lack of political will. They could enforce rules and codes tomorrow. Moulton lacks political courage but loves a camera

If California and other relatively LGBT-friendly states want to be helpful, they're going to need to build a lot more housing.
