A screenshot of a message from Andrew that says: "I never ask, but today I must. May I share this image on socials?" The message includes another screenshot of a message that says: Recap of that call: "the solution was another butthole"
Just another Tuesday at @owlchemylabs.com
Slack message recap of that call: "the solution was another butthole"
Gamedev pro tip: sometimes you just need to add a butthole
(Alex said I could post this... unredacted)

I'm sorry what the fuck?
My favorite bug I saw the team chatting about
βThere is a hole in the playersβ head. When we fix it you canβt customize your avatar anymore. Weβre going to leave the hole open and let the testers knowβ
Sorry to hear this. Glad I was able to contribute to kicking off your substack
This question was so compelling I had to resist answering it at midnight
AI. Search text A "whisperdick" is a slang term popularized by Seth Meyers, referring to someone who says subtly jerky or mean things quietly, often as a follow-up to a seemingly nice comment, like saying "Your mom is cool" then muttering "for sex". It describes a person who delivers backhanded compliments or subtly offensive
Uhh thanks for that example Gemini
Itβs a VR studio massacre today. Very disappointed. So much of this is unnecessary suffering due to the changing whims of mega corporations.
the coolest thing about vr is its like a whole new level of user interface hell you didnt know existed or could exist but is worse than any you have visited so far
Yes I am at a Vegas buffet. Yes I am having sushi for breakfast.

Video games are about to have their Electron moment. Web tech is now capable and accessible enough that it is becoming a viable alternative.
It also helps that Coding AI has been overtrained on TS and JS.

Just hit a 1000 day streak in the NYT Crossword.
Might be my greatest accomplishment in playing games.
I've been doing some gamedev using ThreeJS in my space time. Whew does that workflow put the shame in your commercial engine's game.
I make code changes and the refresh time is *milliseconds*.
Congratulations! They will be lucky to have you!!
looking for some good decay / dirt / dust / grime alpha textures, anyone know of a good itch patch with em?
I tried to live my life like Apple weather.
Every day is a surprise that I wasnβt completely prepared for.
Even if folks can get over it, I think of motion sickness a bit like skydiving. An enormous percentage of the population is physiologically capable of skydiving. They have no desire to overcome their fear of jumping out of a plane.
There are 3 universal truths in this world
1. Life is finite
2. The earth revolves around the sun
3. Never tell VR twitter motion sickness is real, and some people cannot or will not get over it.
Itβs not great. Itβs also a sign of cost reduction over availability. Good developers use multiple clouds and have fail safes.
Or can be cheap and try to use only CF and AWS.
Thatβs actual maturity!
There was a 10 year period in tech where properly staffed core infrastructure of the internet. We got used to everything working all the time.
Weβre now in a post DOGE βreplace juniors with AI worldβ. We get to relearn that the internet was people all along.
Getting close to switching from echo to Google Home. The new update is possibly the worst AI implementation Iβve ever encountered.
On occasion, the apps I use for my kids school get better. But Iβm not certain there was a way to make them worse.
Any change was statistically likely to be a better user experience.
You nailed it! Tech is quite broad, and itβs ok to change specialties.
I used to love developing on mobile. Once enterprise got deeply embedded, and people grew weary of apps, I knew it was my time to find something else. It obviously worked out.
Everyone we work with is hell bent on making VR work. Iβm so proud of that fact.
I get exposed to a lot of external cynicism. I donβt understand why anyone would spend so much energy on something they have grown to despise.
OTOH this is the internet so π€·
I can work with music I already know and thatβs about it. The only time Iβve ever listened to a podcast while gaming was farming resources in Destiny.
I donβt know how people work with YouTube on. Podcasts with story games. Whew.
Now that VR is moving out of the bottom of the hype curve, Iβm noticing there are many burned out cynics remaining in the community.
Why? You could be a builder. VR is an incremental work.
Help contribute to the medium or make space. We have enough obstacles. We donβt need wet blankets.
In an amazing turn of luck, we were able to get out of there after only one hour of sitting on the tarmac
