This sounds like a fantastic (pun intended π) premise! I appreciate the coy nod to Balenciaga too.

Iβm on the board of this awesome organization and weβre hiring a part-time registrar and admin for our Classes Program in San Francisco. Apply at the link if interested, or forward if you know anybody.
Also, DM me with questions about the position. A full job description is linked on the form.
For my last book, Iβd written 90k divided equally between first person present and third person past before realizing that all the present should be past and the past should be present. It was not a fun rewrite, so I feel you.
This is the most incredible footage of blue whales Iβve ever seen
This is the way.
At this point, I think the entire publishing industry needs to have a serious conversation about the degree to which the last 15 years have increasingly seen book promo become an online venture, and what that means now that entire social media and digital platforms are getting torched overnight. π§΅
You didnβt burn them too? You were supposed to shred them, then burn the shreds! Thatβs how you guarantee they haunt you forever! I meanβ¦how you release and let them disappear and you forget them forever. Yes, thatβs what I mean.
My first published novel was my eighth written; the previous seven are all trunked forever. Since publication, I have one same-universe sidequel which I hope comes out one day, and another novel that I salvaged for parts after ten revisions.
I believe this intellectually, and wish I could embody this understanding. Working on it!

For anyone into such things, Iβm launching a tarot practice to help folks tap into their creative flow. Writing, music, visual art, content creators, performers, tinkerers & inventors - whatever you do that involves making stuff. Readings start next week! #tarot

This implies that when given notice, these facilities will change their behavior and conditions for the better. So... Democrats should be requesting NON-STOP rolling daily visits to these facilities. Whatever the "tour" mode is should become permanent.
Facts!!
Iβm well chuffed about this βΊοΈ
βBe kind, be involved, believe in your art,β he said. βAt a time when people tell you art is not important, that is always the prelude to fascism. When they tell you it doesnβt matter, when they tell you a fucking app can do art you say, if itβs that important, why the fuck do they want it so bad? The answer is because they think they can debase everything that makes us a little better, a little more human. And that, in my book, and in my life, includes monsters.β
Love this from Guillermo del Toro
Don't forget folks: allowing yourself a vision of the future you'd want for our country and planet - not the one you'd settle for, not the one you fear, but the future of your dreams - isn't naive, it's a vital cognitive skill. That's how we articulate what we most value. What's worth fighting for.
Have a blessed, peaceful, or rager of an NYE - whatever your speed and predilections. I am making duck with peppercorn sauce and mashed potatoes for me and my husband, and exploring a new tarot deck, and releasing my people pleasing tendencies. I hope your new year brings you what you need π

Down in the Sea of Angels
is an absolutely gorgeously written book, with wonderful, memorable characters in all three timelines. I loved Eunice Wongβs narration.
Check out this terrific interview with Eunice Wong, the voice actor/narrator for the audiobook of Down in the Sea of Angels. So great hearing her perspective on the book, and her approach to narration.

How am I just learning now that there's a Netflix adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude!? I had no idea this happened. A second season was just announced. Talk about a book I wish I wrote! Definitely going to check this out if it's still up.

Canβt wait to see what @ellecordova.bsky.social does with the Calibri is woke nonsense!
Also, congratulations everyone who made something this year. A comic, a song, a film, a novel, a painting, a poem, a short story, a sculpture, crochet, embroidery, whatever it is. In this era of slop and theft, if you *make* something you are a shining jewel and I am so grateful for you.

I need to update my website, and I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm totally motivated with the writing and in the past couple of weeks have finished a novella and started a new novel. But website updating...ugh π©
As Nebula nominations are opening up, I would like to offer my novelette, "Phantom View," which is free-to-read at Reactor! It's a story of disabilities and the supernatural that I've always wanted to write.
