Early stroll. String tied around a streetlight. A pile of twigs like a fascinator museum. The simple beauty of a bus shelter. A yellow and green toy supermarket trolley in a garden. That fence is wearing a discarded jacket.

A much-needed music week: two lots of Will Oldham and Scott Walker, Manic energy, Savage love, Hedera, big bands and beyond juderogers.substack.com/p/10-song-sh...
Fucking hell, Scott 3. I think this might be my favourite album of all time. It also takes me back to a very specific place in Streatham, when I was 21, that I have never been to since. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhz8...

My favourite Talk Talk album. Had missed it was the fortieth anniversary! They're such a great February band. The new shoots of life. Looking forward to reading this (and seeing you tomorrow!)
I have seen it! I regret the tone of that column so much, written in the madness of youth.
hello, the weatherβs grotty, why not lounge about/sort out a cupboard/make nice pasta while listening to one of the shows in my Observer audio review

Ooh, yes please.
Not even a mention!
Thanks, Paul! I know, Television and Blondie in Glasgow...unbelievable.
Superb Suede review by @juderogers.bsky.social, canβt wait to see them on this tour. The bit where Brett Anderson does a turn completely unaccompanied is stunning - I saw footage online of the bit mentioned at the start here & there must have been something in my eye
Anyway, Peter told me about his love of Kate (and Talking Heads and Lou Reed and Pulp) for this Baker's Dozen interview, a slot in which a subject talks about 13 albums they love, for @thequietus.com. thequietus.com/interviews/b...
Am thinking of Peter Capaldi being in the same room as Kate Bush, at the exhibition of renowned Scottish painter John Byrne, and wondering how this could be turned into a Dr Who fantasy in which she's his new companion. Or he's *her* new companion. Imagine.
Genius!
Although I just typed this up sitting on a sofa in my pyjamas with a cardigan over them after a very long day, night and mornings of deadlines, so who's laughing now
^^ this ^^
(I now have these last three words in my head fixed to a Depeche Mode tune)
If a certain kind of jeans makes a grown woman sick, then I despair. I say enjoy the snugness!
You too! Mine won't be as manic this week...
Enjoying in a good way, I hope! :) I did an MA in *deep breath* Postmodernism, Literature and Contemporary Culture back in 99-00, when oiks like me could get funding, and that book took my back!
, @juderogers.bsky.social 's newsletter of super interesting things is a weekly treat. In a world rammed full of distractions it's always good to have a trusted voice point you in the direction of the good stuff.
Oh Mark, thank you so much x

Was such a fun job - the languages I had to pronounce! And the unending joy of having to quote Nicky Wire swearing!
