FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?
Definitely 2, the second had an amazing ending. But yeah, otherwise not good.

Heβs going to have to crawl into a dead bear first. Just the usual trajectory.
He has the dread of knowing itβs coming for him next
Starmer's ability to find the exact sweetspot which pisses off everyone is extraordinary. He's a savant.
No, it wasnβt the rule, thatβs the point.
As an immigrant, I would love to read that.
This is sadly too true. A good taco is hard (impossible?) to find.
Oh no.
Thank you!
Is it possible to post the zoom link for those who might be interested?
Omg so different. I bought and sold 3 houses in Canada and it did not prepare me at all for the insanity of British real estate.
And from βMelaniaβ
Hornchurch Local Government. The ratepayers of Hornchurch have rejected the resolution of the Parieh Council to build a new fire station and Council offices, at a cost of about Β£1,500. The opinion was expressed that a lavish ontlay would arouse a desire for a public library and a swimming bath. The idea of having public buildings seemed to meet with very little farour. A small outlay, it was considered, would put the fire station into good repair; and the village schoolroom was thought to be sufficiently conveient for the β’ Parish Council deliberations.
1903: Don't build a fire station! It will arouse desire for a library.
Helicopter hovering right over my house, then word that my neighbourhood is in lockdown, and this is the headline?! "Man spotted on roof"
a word cloud made up of the most prevalent words from my thesis. 'French', 'Italian' followed by 'identity', really sums it up nicely. However, an over-reliance on 'however' is evident...
My thesis in a nutshell. (Those French noblemen's names are really hurting my word count)
But isnβt that itself derived from the Ancient Greek? As in foreigners.
Thatβs devastating. Iβm so sorry.
Proud of Carney, expressing our Canadian values and our way forward in this new world so clearly.

Just received the minutes from a recent workshop, and I think this sums up my contribution well.
In my first year of undergrad a prof said there is no consensus in History, and after 8 years studying it, I tend to agree. We are inherently revisionists, looking for cracks in established beliefs. So I see your statements more as research questions than corrections or βtruthsβ.
Why do you think it was 2023? They were asking people who applied last Feb (2025) if they were available that spring.
I feel like I havenβt even been properly lied to about the purposes of this war
Tatiana Schlossberg has passed away at 35. Please read this beautiful essay she published last month. It's one of the best things I've read in a long time.

But so much cheaper than owning a car! There are lots of places public transit canβt get to, and times when you just need a car for a particular errand. I donβt use our car club cars that often, but Iβm glad itβs there and hope it allows more people to give up car ownership.
