A kitten covering his mouth with his paw.
I got a kitty and now I want to start a podcast called the podcats but it's already taken but.... it's not about cats??? What a waste of a name!

On Nov 16 at 8PM ET, chat and get craft-y with award-winning author @1demerith.bsky.social & @epochliterary.com editor @jrobertlennon.com about Meredithβs fizzingly witty, disarmingly tender short story βThe Best Man.β
The downside of being a solo chess hobbyist: feeling so much over the news of Daniel Naroditsky's death but not having folks IRL to commiserate with.
It occurs to me today that Tagalog has no direct word for "lonely." There's nag-iisa, but that just means "alone," a fact and not an emotion. And I always had people to be with growing up if I wanted so I never had any reason to use the word "lonely." This realization makes me feel a little lonely.
Thinking about how both Bluesky and Twitter evoke the outdoors but spending too much time on them prevents us from being outdoors. Go outside!
a bouquet consisting of nigella, love-in-a-mist, cosmos, and pink lace flower
Good morning. I've been internetting less and gardening more... here's my first teeny bouquet of the season....
The irony of being invited to a trans healthcare panel the same day I'm going through a Kafkaesque nightmare trying to access hormones after moving and switching medical providers.
Hi I'm continuing my nerdhood with some thoughts inspired by chess on how to maintain writing concentration in the face of strong emotions: open.substack.com/pub/fairest/...
I've been gardening and one of my favorite things about it is all the new words! Lobellas and ranunculus and nasturtium and snapdragon and fescue and on and on and on!
Trying to write merchless but it keeps autocorrecting to merciless and yes, that is also me.
On Saturday Iβm taking @1demerith.bsky.socialβs class on movement for writers. Iβm always trying to discern how much of my work should come from deep in my body, and how much from my regular dopey brain. On Saturday, at least, weβll try the body.

Proud to be an Electric Literature board member working to advocate for and publish trans writers in the wake of Trump's attacks on us through the NEA. Please donate if you can so we can continue our work: secure.givelively.org/donate/elect...

The U.S. is so bananas!
Illustration of American healthcare: I'm supposed to have a free yearly physical through my insurance, but because my doctor and I talked about me being albino and trans, this is not strictly covered by the physical and I was charged $200.
Being edited by Hillary Jordan - @scribblegirl.bsky.social - was one of my most fruitful learning experiences as a writer. So I highly recommend y'all check out her upcoming workshop in Rhinebeck, NY - sounds dreamy! www.eomega.org/workshops/fi...
For folks in NYC/Westchester I'm teaching a Dance and Writing workshop in April; come join me! learn.slc.edu/courses/writ...
Good read: For those artists out there focused on creative resistance, @1demerith.bsky.social's essay is a helpful reminder of the essential balance between personal calm and political engagement. Thank you, Meredith!
How's everyone doing? I wrote this for 100 Days of Resistance, hoping we can help each other find the balance between personal calm and political activism: mailchi.mp/547b1aa20c02...
Every day, for 100 days, Iβm reading an essay on creative resistance, thanks to @writingco-lab.bsky.social. I like this one in particular, on balancing mindfulness with social action by @1demerith.bsky.social
Really happy about this!
If you're feeling feelings today, I strongly suggest reading Kit Heyam's Before We Were Trans for inspiration: bookshop.org/p/books/befo...
Trans folks have proud legacies in many cultures, and that's something every trans person can take heart and courage in.
A good day to remind whoever needs reminding that trans folks have existed for thousands of years and will continue to exist for generations to come, and no speech or order will change that.
A missive about revision, Part 3 of my nerdy deep-dive into writing craft and chess... open.substack.com/pub/fairest/...
Why can't I hear "There are only two sexes" without the echo of "There is only one God"?
Fancy!!! Congrats!!!!
