I have put a good chunk of time into Pokopia now. It's more Dragonite Quest Builders than Pokemon Crossing and tbh I don't love it. I can imagine pretty precisely how someone might end up putting a thousand hours into this but I probably won't.

Listen, this story implicated the president of the United States in one of the worst crimes a human can commit, and he spent almost a year and much of his political capital trying to cover it up. But let's not go wild with it, as if it's on the level of a woman using home email at work.

Anyway, RE9 Requiem is RECOMMENDED. It's got scary bits, it's got bombastic action bits, and while none of it matches the high points achieved by other games in the series there's a lot to like.

It's also definitely the case that Gideon is dumb as shit.

I enjoyed the wide array of freaks at the medical center and the bombast of the garmr sequence. I wish the arch-villains had been a little better. Victor Gideon is delightfully creepy but boring to confront, and Temu Albert Wesker is simply a tedious non-character.

That said, I don't think any part of the game was genuinely bad except the brief Orphanage section, which seemed not to have any internal logic or narrative significance. I guess it was there to break up the super-long Leon sequence but I don't think it did a good job.

The contrast between Grace's shaky first-person fright segments and Leon's third-person action sequences is really effective though I felt they both had bits that went on too long. Also, I felt like each one got the most exposure at times when the other one had the most critical role.

Also I rolled credits this week on RE9: REQUIEM, which I thought was built very smartly and had some really snappy bits but doesn't have any moments that truly match the series' deliriously batshit highs.

I'm not going to go any great detail On Here because I wrote a review, but I rolled credits on Relooted and I thought it was really good! I wanted more of it, which is pretty rare. gamecritics.com/sparky-clark...

Said it before and I'll say it again: In a world where all evil is cartoonishly obvious, the cartoonishly obvious answer here β Donald Trump had Jeffrey Epstein murdered and the footage destroyed β is clearly the correct one

it really speaks to the corrosive nature of this stuff, too - like, the rules are there for a reason, it is good for us to follow them, and it also feels stupid and pointless even if you know theyβre good rules because the idea that theyβre being applied evenly is such obvious horseshit
