I originally made them for a different project but didn't need them in the end, this just felt like a decent excuse to actually use one, honestly.

Itβs possible! Although it does look like thereβs a sword through the book to my eyes, so I assumed it was an early version of their modern icon.
Or at the very least that the painter couldnβt be arsed to paint a whole ass Aquila so just came up with something with the right vibe hah
Experiencing my feminine side by logging into YouTube dot com and reading comments written by men who are very confidently telling me I'm wrong about a subject I definitely know more about than them β¨
Yep! We only do a few gigs a year at the moment but we're hoping to ramp it up a bit more again soon.
I will yell about it whenever one is coming up (although it'll almost certainly be in the Nottingham area).
Also, what with Bruce Campbell's illness recently I've been thinking back to this song a lot.
Which is not really tone appropriate, but playing this live for several years did kinda mean this crass and weird song we wrote over a decade and a half ago is forever connected to him in my head.
It's very possible the album launch we did for this album was the last time we played Dogmeat live, for example. I could not even remember how it went, but as it started BOOM. All the old memories unlock.

Having some fun seeing if I can remember how to play songs I've not played with the band for about a decade... the answer is: mostly yes!
Granted this is mostly because they're simple 4-chord songs, and I'm very much the rhythm guy, but it's fun to see how quickly muscle memory takes over.
Oh! And for those keeping score (which is... well it's me, I'm the one keeping score) these are my 17th, 18th and 19th minis painted of 2026.
I doubt I'll have any other day quite this productive but we live in hope!
It's always important to have one to hand for situations like this hah
And thank you :)
Went silver in the end for them since I knew I could make that work. And I am very glad I made that decision, pops with the other colours nicely.
Will add another 3 at a later date, possibly doing some reposing of legs to get some more dynamic poses in there.
But for now... rest!
They're made from a mixture of RTB01 bits, some 3D printed bits by @toftys.bsky.social, some 3D scanned RTB01 bits I modified (like the helmet), and some good old fashioned milliput work to get it to all fit together.
3 highly customised space marine miniatures for Warhammer 40,000.
One of the minis on its own to you can better see it.
Behold! My RTB01-based Sanguinary guard for my Rogue Trader Lamenters army! Started painting these this morning and basically didnβt stop until all 3 were done. This probably means thereβs a bunch of mistakes Iβll need to fix later but for now, Iβm very happy with them.
Yβknow, when I first started this army I had no particular fondness for yellow.
Now I actively enjoy painting it and use it on way more things than I used to.
Which I think is the exact opposite experience to most people whoβve painted a yellow army.
Drop something YELLOW!
An eBay listing for the legs of a 1980s Space Marine Librarian miniature. Well, when I say βlegsβ itβs actually missing one of them.
It is comforting in these trying times for there to be constants you can rely on. Things to ground you when everything feels in flux.
Like that one eBay listing for some very damaged Librarian legs that have been there for years.
For those who havenβt read those comics, yes that is a thing that happened and Iβm only mildly mischaracterising it for comedic effect.
The baby had a decepticon symbol on their face.
I am now realising that we all exist in that one storyline from the IDW Transformers comics where Scorponok got pregnant with a human baby.
Itβs something that really feels like, if youβre gonna do it, then it should go somewhereβ¦ but it just doesnβt.
Probably should have finished off the βclimate changeβ one from like 6 expansions ago too. Thereβs been so many references to it in recent expansions and weβre definitely missing out on important lore.
I feel like weβre really missing out by not finishing the βAI apocalypse but stupidβ and βevery powerful person in the world was mates with this one paedophileβ quest lines and heading straight into the βletβs try and start World War 3β one.
Thereβs so many dangling plot threads. Itβs unsatisfying.
Thank you :)
Honestly it didnβt take that long, was lucky and managed to not make many mistakes that needed fixing haha
No stream tonight, sorry! Super tired! Basically dead. Will uncorpse-ify for next week.
Rogue trader era chaos space marines
Rogue trader era chaos terminators
Rogue trader era chaos terminators
Daemonettes with large crab claws
A few squads for the #oldhammer #40k #chaos force - some veterans, two small terminator units, and a pack of daemonettes.
He is soooooooo sick! Love that youβve gone for the full icon.
Iβm painting a full army of βem for the Old World Army Challenge if you wanna check these out π oldworldarmychallenge.blogspot.com/2026/02/jame...
Thank you⦠as I was just going for a single one I thought I might as well give the full icon a shot. I am glutton for punishment hah
And yours look great! Really cool project :)
An old space marine mini painted mostly in silver. Its gun has been slightly modified with a 3D printed magazine.
A close up of its shoulder pad where I have painted a modified version of the Imperial Aquila. It is holding an axe and a rod. Itβs the symbol of the Ordo Malleus.
Got it into my head that I wanted to paint a Rogue Trader era Grey Knight (from before they had terminators). There isnβt much info on how they looked that I could find beyond black and white art and a single βEavy Metal image, so I did my best.
Yes, the icon was a nightmare, thanks for asking.
Thank you! The stripes are technically kill markers but I mostly put them on there for a little splash of colour hah
Not that I recall, they just had such a rigorous recruitment process that very few potential Psykers would ever make it through.
Yep, first showed up in Slave to Darkness!
The details were often quite different to the modern ones (barely any psykers in them, for example), but they filled the same basic role of Daemon-hunting marines connected to the Ordo Malleus.
Sometimes yes, also taking off excess paint when Iβve got a bit too much on my brush and sometimes as a makeshift palette when I just need like, a single highlight in a particular colour.
A grey knight marine taken from an old issue of white dwarf.
For the curious, hereβs the (particularly crunchy) image I took rough inspiration from for the colour scheme. You can see by this point theyβd already changed their icon to something simpler.
Wonder if this scheme inspired the later Astral Claw redesign? Theyβre pretty similar.
