I had the same thought last year and subscribed to scientific American. I don’t read the print, but check in on the online. I find it to be vaguely interesting, but the editorial direction seems schizophrenic- between American politics, buzzfeed reminiscent bites, and decent science coverage.
Dive into subcultures. Rock Creek Park. Boat stuff. House shows. Go-go. Community gardens. Nerd level history. “Culture” lacks complexity in DC. Subcultures are where it actually lives.
Folks are making fun of this, but I completely agree. I freaking loved Revel. I had a couple thousand rides in New York and DC.
