So I like default colors of the pics on the pixel better but if you factor in the styles on the iPhone it gives you more options when you shoot. Plus the video is still superior on the iPhone. If you compare it to Samsung then I think Samsung is tied w iphone in everything but superior in zoom pics

So I've had the #pixel 10 pro XL for a bit but recently been pixel peeping it's photos against my Samsung s25 ultra and I have to say the pixel photos are looking a lot more grainy than I remember against it. I remember when the pixel 4xl was the king of photography and now the 10xl feels behind.

Eventually they go so far into future that they witness end of universe in another big bang & survive it, witness creation of same universe & end up at the same point in time where they find themselves originally stealing the ship they are on and help their past selves steal the ship so its a loop.

During each flight in their faster than light ship, centuries past in normal space and when they come out to refuel, the a.i. eventually finds them & they have to jump back into faster than light speed. Each time they also realize the a.i. has destroy more systems and expanded.

Maybe my fellow #sciencefiction readers will know the title & author of a book I once read in highschool - premise of book follows 2 lovers who steal a faster than light speed ship & are being chased throughout the galaxy by a malevalent a.i. who wants to destroy all life, & mass to stop big bang

I have 2 of them but they are collecting dust in the basement cause they started to bug out at some point a couple years ago and I replaced them with #Apple TVs... Maybe I'll boot one up and see how it runs after the update.

Just 328gb worth of ram that I pulled so far from various servers and desktops we are decommissioning today

Cleaning up data center and was given approval to divert these decommissioned servers to some nonprofits instead of throwing them away to disposal service. Wiping them today and already found them a new home: an after school program for kids.

Writing some python scripts to automate my #unrealengine builds. I rewrote all of them from ground up. Added some texture optimizations in prebuild & the build went from 48gb to about 28gb so a big savings & it was lossless so textures still look great!

So translated our docs on vehicle system so it now covers using horses as well as an example even though we probably won't use horses in our scifi game. We might build out other rideable animals & wanted to cover it w an example

Just migrated to bazzite the other day on one of my workstation & laptop & 2 things stand out... The performance was crazy good compared to win 11 & what was really shocking was on laptop battery life was incredibly better!!

What a difference in performance but what shocked me was the battery life difference. Soooo much better than it's stock windows os.

Ok!!! Brazzite OS installed, booted, updated and installing a couple games now. It's running pretty snappy. Upgraded the internal storage of the ally also from 512gb to 2tb which should also help.

Window updates on my Asus ally handheld have rendered the handheld unusable. Even after running Asus crate updates the handheld is so slow it's not even worth playing on. Factory reset and it was fine till I updated again. Downloading #bazzite os now to try it on device.

So coded a realtime fail over in game client. Now when there is network instability or drops, the client does a call back and request migration to another server and the backend hands off the IP and node info. The players see a brief pause and then their instance is moved and they continue playing.

Agones automatically replacing crashed servers & ensuring 2 (or more) are always ready for players. Have hardware heartbeat working also running to monitor and alerts funneling to telegram.

So exciting to see dashboard light up!

Have it clustered on 2 proxmox servers both w 256gb ram already!!!

What's great is I can simply add 2nd machine when my first xeon server is maxed to the Proxmox cluster, spin up a new K3s VM, and the "Cluster" will automatically start moving new game servers to the new hardware. I have 4 xeon servers currently running with old environment I can migrate to this.

Of some now: original tech had a mix of postgresql, redid and mongodb but new stack replaces most of it with cockroachDB and redis for simplicity and since I started the project the tech has improved considerably.

For those interested here is the old diagram and the new stack to the backend which includes sharding, persistence, login, auth, replication, scaling, etc. for my open world scifi game inspired by #starcitizen #startrek, #farscape & #cyberpunk

Have the proxmox os relinquishing ownership of GPU so I can assign it now to Vms. Took a bit but finally have it sorted. Now time to create a new template base os for my Agones backend which I will use to replace my older nodejs custom stack. It will scale better.

Installing proxmox on a extra threadripper I have. Installed 128gb ram, 1x2tb Samsung nvme drive, 1x4tb Samsung nvme drive and have a rtx 3090 installed. Plan on testing out scaling and failover scenarios for my game universe this week.
