"U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that U.S. forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls' school."
"The strike would rank among the worst cases of civilian casualties in decades of U.S. conflicts in the βMiddle East."
As a 37 year old I choose not to hear this (my future involves bifocals)
There are strict limits on how many vehicles you can have per household so that probably helps a lot. And new build flats often excluded from getting them at all
It mostly doesn't in my experience! The street I used to live on always had loads of space free. I guess car ownership is low for a lot of other policy reasons. Owning a car in London is hell
In London however I think they manage it quite well. Most streets in zone 2 you can get residents permits that are too cheap but also people can pay in resident zones by the hour using a phone app
I'm not sure I agree with this completely but certainly from a Chicago perspective I see the argument somewhat. You don't want to become dependent on parking revenue (or worse, sell the rights to it) in a way that makes it fiscally harder to later narrow streets or add bike lanes
Terrified of the point where I need varifocals
30 to 40 is the sweet spot where normal genetic decline in vision has maxed out already but old-age related decline hasn't kicked in yet
Nah, your body totally just goes into decline from about age 40.
(Also, more seriously, most people who are short sighted see it flatten out at 30 but then loads of people who had perfect vision begin to need reading glasses from 40 on)
Zone 2 cardio. Mobility maxxing. There will be no further discussion.
They're in Park Slope, literally every time
Very unfair on the Zimbabwean dollar
Yes!
Maybe not!
One of my niche contrarian views is that plastic waste is basically fine as long as it goes into a proper, sealed landfill. The vast majority of plastic pollution people worry about - in the ocean, rivers, etc - is from littering or countries without waste processing facilities/landfill
If Americans discovered how good the average British grocery store is versus what they get, they'd riot, I swear.
Got a cab near the Department of Education. Hadnβt seen the Charlie Kirk banner before.
Would be delighted
Think I may have read "paid off" differently & in a more cynical way than he did, yes
Just meant it paid off for the immediate interests of those doing it
Oh I wasn't saying it was good
(Though he was head of government, not technically head of state. But killing him delivered a pliable Congolese dictator and access to its resources - well, until they were all looted - for the next thirty years)

I am heartbroken to share the devastating news of the death of my dear friend, Paul Conroy.
Paul died of a heart attack. He did not hesitate. He faced his final moments with courage and dignity.
The first US president in history to announce a war while wearing a baseball cap.
grim stats here β particularly in the sunbelt compared to the northeast β and right to include in the toll of deadly accidents those who (blameless or not) survive behind the wheel

Elaine Godfrey on getting booted from a Crockett event: "I agreed to leave, and four guards, including at least one who was armed, escorted me out of the building, through the parking lot, and right to the edge of the nearby highway, where they waited as I ordered a car. A spokesperson for the Crockett campaign did not respond to my request for comment on these events or for elaboration on the tiers of haterdom. A spokesperson for her team told Semafor that I had not been removed from the event. Crockett told CBS News there is βno evidenceβ that a reporter had been removed from an event. She added that there is a βspecific journalistβ who has a βhistory of being less than truthful,β and that this person had been sued for defamation and lost. Perhaps she was thinking of someone else, because thatβs not something that has ever happened to me."
