Gallery Night
On Thursday March 19th we invite you to join us and Daniel Cox for an evening of art appreciation at the taproom. Daniel is a Manchester based fine artist exploring colour and texture to create evocative pieces that draw the eye, morph and change the longer you spend with them.
Weβll have chillies, pickling cucumbers, beans galore and much more. If youβve got any seeds or seedlings that youβd like to share or swap, any recipes or growing tips then please do bring them along and weβll make a lovely day of it! ππ»π»
Whether youβre gardening curious or a seasoned green fingered pro, weβd love you to come along. Weβll have a potting bench at the ready too so you can go home with some brand new additions to the family and watch them grow, be that on a sunny window sill or in the garden.

Tannic, effervescent and funky, Veer is our first beer/wine hybrid. We've elevated each element bringing a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Truly unique, Veer will be available this Thursday in bottle via the web shop and at the Taproom where we'll have it on draft too. π»
At Balance, we're partial to a bit of natty wine and last year we got a chance to fuse our love of natural wine with our love for beer in this collaboration with Matt Gregory Wines.
We're always experimenting with ingredients, flavours and methods that introduce complexity, depth and character to our beers and in this latest release we've taken a running dive into the deep end.
We're excited to be pouring at this year's Craft Beer Expo!
Very cool to be at the North-West's longest running beer fest, hosted by the excellent Black Lodge. We'll be bringing big hitting mixed ferm & our delightful selves to Liverpool. Tickets available now, come say hello on 12th or 13th June!
Itβs definitely going to take a little fine tuning but weβre hoping once scaled itβll actually be quite simple and relatively low energy input wise. Will keep you posted
Keep an eye out for updates on the project and keep a lookout later this year for our next mushroom beer which weβll flavour using mushrooms grown on the spent grains! Canβt wait to see where this goes.
During this trial period weβre planning to tailor, refine and streamline the process so we can scale it up to be able to process much more grain from more breweries in Manchester and produce even more mushrooms. These will then feed as many people as possible in and around Manchester.
Yesterday we processed 60kg of spent grain and split it between 15 grow bags which will be inoculated with oyster mushroom spores today. If all goes well we could well be looking at up to 75kg of mushrooms grown on the spent grain!
For a while now weβve been looking at alternative ways of utilising spent grain from brewing in ways that will benefit our local community. One avenue weβve been exploring is using spent grain as a growing substrate for mushrooms. Step in Norton at Fungallβ¦we have the grain, he has the know how.

After a few months of prep. and planning, yesterday we began an exciting project with Fungall down at Forever Fields in Whalley Range.
Drink both of these beers fresh or age to see where the funk takes them!
Saison de Maison Blend 11 - 5.5%
This blend leans into the fruity side of things with pineapple jumping out alongside pithy lemon peel and an earthy, floral funk. You'll find poached pear, orange and ripe peach rounded out by freshly cut hay meadow aromatics and soft wood tannins.
Skof 108 - 4.6%
On the nose, this beer brings honey and peach blossom. Floral, fruity acidity leads on the palate with funky complexity following. Barrel tannins bring body and structure as well as soft, woody vanilla notes before a smooth, satisfying finish.
