😆
Sounds like you might be the right person to explain the meaning of a poem by Margaret about bracken to me!
Well done Sue!

Was just wondering.
I thought you might have - do you know who is writing about? How nice of him to reply. It’s hard to believe that he was still around in 2004.
Pleasure. I’m reading a lot of his work at the moment - quoting some of his descriptions of bracken in my book - and he’s such a great writer.
@onloughrigg.bsky.social Thought you might like this by A H Griffin, one of his ‘Country Diary’ pieces.
Now sold out!
No problem! Probably not botanical enough for you anyway, as I’m a historian not a botanist. Will be handing out Custard Creams instead of licheny sticks!
@onloughrigg.bsky.social Thanks for the like and re-post. We really enjoyed your lichens talk in Carlisle the other night!
Only three tickets left!
Only five tickets left!
Lovely pics of you. Sx
Only a dozen tickets left!
Went there in 2024 - it was amazing. Almost as good as Fallingwater, which lived up to all my expectations. Did a FLW tour with Martin Randall Travel, from Pittsburgh to Chicago.
Tickets now available here: highamhall.com/course/sunda...
Oh yes - they were very popular seaside attractions (see my books!) I’m sure the writing won’t take you long!
And a fernery! Congratulations Kate. X
Thank you!
Thanks.
Thanks. Yes, but when I click on that there is then no button to choose the number of tickets, and I can't progress any further!
Hi, has this sold out now? There seems to be no button to add a ticket.
Save the date 26 April 2026: ‘Fern Fever on the Fells’. I’ll be giving a Sunday afternoon talk at the lovely Higham Hall, Bassenthwaite, followed by tea & cake. It will tell the story of the Victorian fern craze in the Lake District. Booking details to follow.
It’s publication day for my latest book: ‘An A-Z of Beatrix Potter’! This book was a joy to research and write and I am so thrilled that it is finally out in the world 🥳📚🍃🍄 @bloomsburyacad.bsky.social

It would!
For a moment I thought that was a real bauble, and was going to ask where you got it! Shame!
Many congratulations!
Just down the road from us!
