We are an exception I guess. 30k miles a year in the EVs roughly. About 700kWh/month

Youβre probably right tbf. Small roofs or flats and youβd struggle ofc but our place is def zero or less if you exclude the EV energy requirements. Having loads of roof space is brilliant!
By thinking he can βdefy deep historical lessonsβ from previous American military campaigns in the Middle East, Donald Trump is taking βa massive and unnecessary gambleβ, warns Philip Gordon
Surprised i didnβt see @heat-geek.bsky.social in there somewhere tbh. What did you make of it Adam?
These programs can never quite hit all the points youβd like in the way youβd like but I thought the overall takeaways were pretty good
Quite possibly, but if the point is zero bills the fabric does need to be pretty good. That or a massive roof for enough solar! They did highlight things like the school which canβt go crazy on capital budget and still have a good result on elec bills.
Caught up with this last night. I think they do a really good job on a lot of subjects here. I think this will be super relevant again this winter π¬

This is no different from Putin saying MH17 was shot down by Ukraine or Assad saying rebels gassed themselves.
I think itβs all of the above plus completely remove green levies from electricity
I donβt think there can be a single lever to pull that can do whatβs required in time for next winter. All we can hope for is a further acceleration of incremental gains.
Maybe a massive PR campaign could help tho?
Interesting thread here

I think youβre being over optimistic.
Sure, wind makes a significant & useful contribution even with low wind. But it is only when the grid does not need ANY gas that the price is not dictated by gas.
Once we donβt need gas MOST of the time β‘οΈ prices will decouple fully.
Thatβs a long way off yet
Why does the global energy transition sometimes seem slow in headline statistics even as solar, wind, EVs and heat pumps surge ahead?
Just Have a Think unpacks this by diving into our analysis that shows the problem isnβt the transition, but the way weβve been counting it.
Shit ton in order for it to be most of the time, not just the odd hour here or there when itβs really windy. Thatβs when the overall wholesale cost properly diverges from gas
I mean the nation building in 2003 *was* incompetent, but I donβt think you are meant to replace it withβ¦nothing?
I donβt really see the downside of allowing the licences. As long as sufficient collateral is put down to cover abandoned rigs I donβt see why not. Itβs not going to materially change the cost of fuel or total emissions. An electrified economy will be cheaper, so blocking fossils isnβt required IMO
Yup

π¨Following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East, gas-fired electricity prices in the EU rose by 51% β highlighting the risks of relying on fossil imports.
The longer the conflict goes on, the greater the impact for countries with the heaviest gas reliance.
Trump lashes out at the United Kingdom:
"The UK has been very uncooperative... They've ruined relationships... They got windmills all over the place that are ruining the country, ruining the landscapes, ruining the beautiful fields... You have Sharia courts adjudicating law."
Obvs we need a shit ton more before it makes a significant difference. But yes, very happy to have them (especially the ones next to his golf course I have a share in π)
When do Trump ever say Thank you for your attention on this matter? Or for anything? π€ wasnβt written by him Iβm guessing
You do have to build those renewables and the power lines to link them.
Something, you know, the Greens keep opposing.
How many hours a day are you checking the app? π Addictive as hell isnβt it?
Whatβs the system size, battery etc?
Ahh your day will come. Never fear! How long has your system been in?
Oh and the spike was the EV charger. Intelligent will often start up even during the peak hours which is a bit weird. I know itβs possible to hold the battery so it doesnβt empty into the car but I just canβt face all the faff of home assistant etc
Itβs from the MySigen app - Sigenergy π& inverter.
For winter I charge overnight on π for 7p then run ASHP all day, any βοΈ is a bonus.
But if itβs warmer, & I know the π wonβt run out I export as much as poss at 12p (was 15p)
So π is mainly a winter thing, max βοΈ export rest of the time
Absolutely scorchio today. 37kWh. Havenβt seen that much produced in a day for ages! π βοΈ

From the last time the US bombed Iran. I think it still holds.

How the hell do you ever achieve 1200g/kWh??!! Were they putting a kettle on the other side of the room to an open fire or something π±
