Solidarity rally today Friday march 6 at 11am with @cupe3912.bsky.social striking educators—their TAs are currently being paid $17/hr. Their instructors less than $5000 per course. This will be their first agreement- it has been 3 years since they were unionized.

CUPE is outraged by the United States’ unlawful and lethal attack on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We are shocked that the U.S. military bombed this sovereign nation. This is a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.

PICKET HOURS UPDATE IMPORANT NOTE: DUE TO THE RATIFICATION VOTE, CUPE 3912 SMU PART-TIME FACULTY SHOULD AIM FOR 10 HOURS OF PICKET TIME (INSTEAD OF A FULL WEEKS' 20 HOURS
For SMU Part-Time Faculty, an important note: as we are waiting for the results from the ratification vote of the tentative agreement, we are for now at ten hours of strike pay (instead of twenty).
Due to the forecast, all strike duties will be online tomorrow, Friday November 14.

SMU's upcoming Wellness Week doesn't do what a good collective agreement will—address real material issues, like low pay and stress from late contracts. We need a fair contract for a healthy workplace, not #UnfairWork!
If you think that part time faculty in Canada should be paid more than ~$26k/year teaching four courses, should get benefits, and should have a path to permanency, sign + share!
We're on strike for what's already been settled at other universities.
