someone else some time back responding to me got at how the thing with platner and the tattoo ended up hitting a simultaneous cross-section: you've got the "those damn wokes again" who think it's Unfair Cancelling, and you also got types who see it as the party ratfucking challengers.

and it's magnified by how they respond very differently to different kinds of candidates. think of it in conversation with the decades of reaching across the aisle to bigots, be they right wing dems or outright republicans. a white bigot has never bothered them as much as types like, again, mamdani.
