I started teacher's college in Sept and I swear the timing is coincidental... but I'm grateful to be en route to something else instead of stressing about booking freelance a11y work in this climate. Alarming how fast things are changing.
Yeah I just had a change of heart during mat leave and wanted to make the change. Career transitions are a lot of work, but I'm excited. The kids give me hope and I want to help them.
I'm so sorry to hear this. I started my transition out of tech and have been in teacher's college since the fall. Hearing all the news this week has me thinking about all the accessibility pals and what the changes will mean for access 😥

Hey BlueSky accessibility pals. I’m coming off mat leave in a couple of months, what’s new and exciting in the field? Obviously WCAG 2.2 coming to fruition, but what else?
I was just listening to the Hard Fork podcast and a new job has popped up in the field called prompt engineer, which trains LLMs to be better and less harmful. It reminded me of Eric Bailey’s talk, ‘be the villain’. I think accessibility engineers would be very good at it.
More of the trust and safety team at Twitter fired and political ads will be allowed again. Looking good for election disinformation season. Cool stuff.
I used to be in denial about my Leslie Knopery but I love waffles, jamming on my planner, have many organized binders for life stuff and applied to school one day before applications technically opened. Also my partner has a very cute butt. I am what I am.
