The movement to rid our country of Confederate symbols is grassroots, driven by local activists making decisions about their values. πŸ’ͺ

If you want to remove a Confederate memorial in your town, check out our community guide here ➑️: www.splcenter.org/resources/gu...

It is clear that if you aren't wealthy or a large corporation, you're only going to be hurt by trump's bills and policies.

Since Reagan, this has been the central theme of the Republican party. Cut spending on the things that we need and redirect those tax dollars into the pockets of the wealthy.

This bill will impoverish millions while granting vast resources to despicable mercenaries.

The only way to halt the rise of the police state is to make it so shameful to don a uniform that they can't recruit enough goons to fill their ranks.

In factβ€”the uprising of 2020 temporarily achieved that.

At least twice now, when I thought I found an independent news source/commentator on social media that has accurate and insightful info, helps me feel sane, and doesn’t seem like a clickbaiting grifter, they post fluff pieces from an AI conference. πŸ˜’

Highly recommend going back to read old notes every once in a while. Some of them may be cringe, but they may also provide your own insights from the past that you didn’t know you needed now.

Two wolves in me: one says β€œisolate yourself and don’t share anything, no one cares about you anyway”, the other says β€œexpress yourself and let your voice be heard, those who care will find a way to you”

The thing about generative AI that makes it different from other climate threats is that it’s NEW. Most people can’t imagine living without meat or plastic… but we can all imagine living without Chat GPT. We’ve all done it before. So yes, we can put the genie back into the bottle. It’s not too late.

You are personally ordering the deportation of people because of things they’ve said and op-eds they’ve written. You don’t give a fuck about free speech.

Finally saw my first show at Sunset Tavern: Art d’Ecco! Saw an ad, thought he sounded fun, and spontaneously ordered a ticket a day before the gig. He and his band brought the house down with their glam, groovy dance-punk! Hope to see more shows at this venue.

The Right is a mass movement for domination and inequality. For them, Trump has always been a useful mask of 'populism.'

Across the U.S., Americans recognize that the true legacy of the Confederacy was to promote white supremacy and communities are calling for the removal of Confederate symbols.

It's tough to refer to someone as a criminal if you've given them no due process to determine whether they're a criminal. Like if you get arrested and get a trial and are convicted of 34 felony counts. That's due process. You can call that guy a criminal.

Last night, Republicans snuck in midnight amendments to sell public lands to private interests to fund their handouts to billionaires.

Glad some Reps. are stepping up to say it: our public lands are not for sale.

In an absolutely devastating ruling, the Supreme Court has allowed the transgender military ban to go into effect.

This is shocking - the ban explicitly called transgender people dishonorable for being transgender. It is as clear as day soaked in animus.

Reels on Facebook, however, can be a cheugy trainwreck. It’s not as bad as it used to be, but when it first launched, it was all posts from those vlogging families. You know the kind. Staged pranks, corny men/women differences, etc. Now it’s mostly nostalgic fashion content. So, still cheugy!

I personally can’t compare it to TikTok cuz I never used that, YouTube Shorts is decent but haphazard, & Bluesky isn’t where I’d go for video scrolling yet. It’s a different user base & still growing. There’s also still tons of sports videos showing up when I’ve blocked those topics.

Unpopular opinion: despite the Meta of it all, my Instagram algorithm (both main feed posts and Reels) is pretty well-tailored to my interests. Maybe due to being chronically online for 20+ years. So it’s surprising seeing folks online complain about the Instagram algorithm vs TikTok.
