Reels on Facebook, however, can be a cheugy trainwreck. It’s not as bad as it used to be, but when it first launched, it was all posts from those vlogging families. You know the kind. Staged pranks, corny men/women differences, etc. Now it’s mostly nostalgic fashion content. So, still cheugy!
I personally can’t compare it to TikTok cuz I never used that, YouTube Shorts is decent but haphazard, & Bluesky isn’t where I’d go for video scrolling yet. It’s a different user base & still growing. There’s also still tons of sports videos showing up when I’ve blocked those topics.
Unpopular opinion: despite the Meta of it all, my Instagram algorithm (both main feed posts and Reels) is pretty well-tailored to my interests. Maybe due to being chronically online for 20+ years. So it’s surprising seeing folks online complain about the Instagram algorithm vs TikTok.
