that being said, there’s a reason why i have/had so many lj/dw/ao3 accounts and alias’s when it comes to writing rpf fic. i want to write whatever i want and be able to enjoy it without too much influence from others. i post a cheeky like something once a year or every other year and be one my way

to have SO MANY writers take a hiatus or quit the fandom’s writing space completely… or to constantly be at each others throats…. what can be done. leaving nice comments/kudos/bookmarks/likes/rts can only do so much

say you some deserve to win the best of “______” category because of something they didn’t like or someone else deserves it but didn’t get more exposure, etc etc. i get it. i really do. but how much this has blown up… i have never seen this happen to this level in any other fandom.

and as a young creative it can be frustrating to hear people constantly say things to you about how you could have improved something you were really proud of. it’s one thing to hear criticism from a mentor or a friend you trust, but it’s something else to see tons of people on twit in the qrts

but in recent years there’s been a huge spike in purity culture leaking into fandoms and going after other fans that do something they don’t like and demonizing people doing absolutely normal fandom things. it makes fandom spaces really tense and feel like you’re always being watched/criticized

it happens with a lot with newer fandoms (& esp with kpop fandoms) but you always get discourse about certain fics becoming super famous and smaller writers expressing their insecurities about not feeling seen enough or writers of ~controversial~ topics/tropes being unfairly judged
