@fringecrow
I like to draw stuff, sometimes fuzzy sometimes mechanized. Lancer Forever GM. Currently working as an industrial drafter. Also I have an Itch webpage now! It's sparse, but more content coming in the future perhaps? https://annecrow.itch.io/

Massif Press is pretty clear they're open to hacks of the system and have made all of the game's mechanics and crunchy elements open to re-use and alteration, but that doesn't make me feel any less like I'm just re-writing their rules and putting my own set dressing on top.
#TTRPG creators, when does a game stop being a "hack" of an existing system and start becoming a rip-off? I'm working on a power metal/Arthurian knights vs. fascists game that started off very OSR in vibe but is rapidly becoming a Lancer hack, and I'm struggling to shake the feel I'm just copying.
Start getting annual bloodwork panels by 30. There are a lot of issues that are much easier to address in your 30s that will become chronic when you're in your 50s or older.
My liver is back to normal after almost a decade of cryptogenic low function. Could have been a lifelong issue if I'd waited.
It seems like a common pattern with a lot of these companies trying to poach big established talent is to be like βno budget, no rules, skyβs the limitβ then arbitrarily decide that theyβve overspent their blank cheque. Thereβs a limit, you just wonβt know until you hit it.
I feel like every week Iβm seeing another production thatβs solidly in development with everything stacked in its favour to succeed announce βpencils down, everyone go homeβ
It come free with your every coyotes!
(They are chewing on your brain.. or something idk I'm not a coyote)
I think it's pretty important to understand that algorithmically-run platforms have long understood anger and argument drives much more engagement than just showing you stuff you like, and if you find yourself being made to despair at what a platform shows you, that is the system working as intended
I was just venting to a friend the other day about how 10 years ago it was likeβ¦ unheard of to see this volume of projects get so far into development before the company funding it decides βproject cancelled, everyone go homeβ how much money is being thrown away on art no one gets to see?

Thanks
I think I just got brain damage reading this but something tells me that's the desired goal :P
"you need to learn how to use gAI or you'll get left behind!"
counterpoint!
the absolute fastest way to render yourself unemployable is to build your skillset around a tool that does your thinking for you, that everyone has access to, and that one company can change or take away at any time
hey fellow Canadians, where do you buy your dog supplies that's not amazon. I'm trying to find a better muzzle for spud.
he's muzzle trained, we have two, but i'd like one that fits better.
maybe a wire one.
i'm really hoping that him being fully muzzle trained will be points in his favour.
Nausicaa in the Toxic Jungle staring at a pair of giant Ohmu. The jungle is dark and ancient, giant fungi towering up into the canopy and blotting out the sun. The only light is a patch of small blooming fungi that the Ohmu are walking through, lighting them in warm light from beneath. Various other giant insects roam the jungle, some flying above and others skittering across the trunks of trees.

Remember, if they make this law, most places online literally cannot afford to do ID verification themselves and will have to outsource it, and the dominant business in that field currently is the one that is connected to Epstien-business-partner-owned fascist-surveillance-corporation Palantir.

A three-panel comic. Panel 1: A fawn stands in front of a bullfrog and a toucan (i forget race name sorry d&d nerds) and is stroking the head of a little blue kitten with oddly tiefling-esque horns. "Well..." Panel 2: A crowd scene feat. a gnoll, tabaxi, mindflayer, orc, dwarf, minotaur, elf(s 1&2), orc, human, tiefling, bugbear, another tabaxi, and a dragonborn, all partying. "I'm terrible at riddles." Panel 3: Albee looking into the camera, determined. "But I'm REALLY GOOD at crying."
Still one of my favorite scenes from @rudetales.bsky.social (feat @thebeardlyben.art and @dwuff.com's Jerry and Ursula~)
That said- it's not easy to just Make a Local Con happen, this stuff takes time, money, and organisation. But I don't think bigger conventions are the answer, not for indie artists at least either. It's disappointing to see less indie comics at.... comic conventions. Where are the comics?
More local cons with some young artist and their button maker, handcrafted goods- Less pressure to make first time con tables shop for frosted cube set ups and have at least 10 variants of charms. Its just too much to expect- and yes, even for the pros!
especially to younger artists! Newbies in the convention scene! We NEED more new faces to keep it fresh and to give everyone that fair shake, and when it ends up being the Same Crowd each time because they have curated themselves to this show, it does leave a lot to be desired.
I've been having this discussion a lot with my friends and peers- and I don't have the exact solution. But I do know that having a 'one stop shop' convention isn't the direction we should head- If there was a way to have more curated smaller cons more often, I feel that would open the door-
Controversial, but I don't think the solution to a successful convention is to continuously grow bigger and bigger. It seems every time that happens, the prices and lack of accessibility go up. We need more specific conventions to celebrate specific stuff. Less artists making EVERY fandom merch.
I think it'd be cool if we had a larger discussion on the direction of conventions in NA- how expensive they are, how little artists make back, how much artists have to put in to even get accepted- And let's not forget how ridiculous the expectations are for presentation and merchandise with tables.
The package of censorship and surveillance bills brought up in todays markup has been advanced
Continue to contact your representatives and demand this legislation be opposed. Tell your family and friends, explain how these bills are not what they appear, and ask them to join us in opposition!
You better wake the fuck up now. If we don't make their lives ABSOLUTELY FUCKING MISERABLE, we're going be the ones who get shafted. And HARD.
You best believe that everything about the Internet we know is going to die and everything we know and love with it.
I've made my calls today. You need to.
