This something I often bring up when talking to people about nuclear energy. It wish it was more widely understood what the public safety concerns from a NPP vs those from say, the rotterdam petrochemical plants actually are, and how much more likely and common chemical mass causality events are.
Flicker above 50Hz is noticable to me when I'm *very* tired - it feels like my vision's shutter angle becomes very short. Then LED stuff gets annoying, esp when moving my head/eyes.
Besides all that, (synchronized) flicker can be very dangerous in workshops due to stroboscopic effects.
