When I was in grad school, one of the most powerful people on campus was the "Ruler Lady." At a time when we could only submit complete dissertations as hard copy, this lady would check if the margins/formatting were correct & acceptable.

Today, the room availability booking person is powerful.

If I could change one piece of the discourse-that-drives-policy it’d be to underscore that higher education is not only a benefit to the individual but to all of us. It’s a collective good.

Couldn’t help noticing that women’s gold medal hockey game held on a weekday. But men’s game on a weekend when easier for folks to watch.

USA won gold, but Canada’s uniforms are so much better. We look like a Fanatics special.

Coverture, Now More than Ever - Karin Wulf Coverture is a legal principle in which a married woman's legal identity and capacity is subsumed under her husband's.

Ugh, who wants to have to write about coverture bc relevant to current events? Super short post bc apparently needs circulating. karinwulf.com/tidbits/cove...

Maybe there’s an important personal moment connected to it?

If the Duke of York escaped prison, fled to France, raised an army and landed at Newhaven to try to overthrow his brother I’m not saying it would be a good thing but as a historian I wouldn’t exactly hate it.

God I hope Andrew refuses multiple times to recognise the terms by which the court in front of him sits.

Does that include picking the wallpaper? Because that could be 10 years on its own. . . .

Modern hotel rooms are a guessing game of β€œwhat does this button do?” Also, why are there no full length mirrors anymore???

Ok fine letβ€˜s gather together the existing remnants of professional book reviewing and figure out how to support what still survives/expand options.

I’ve run events in the Concert Hall. I’ve gone to the opera, jazz concerts, musicals, and plays. The Kennedy Center is a special place. I am terrified about what this means. And who is paying???
