doing everything you can to kneecap renewable energy development and then immediately launching an illegal war that threatens non-renewables and may result in a catastrophic increase in energy prices is the republican party in a nutshell

Why do I have to pretend that I'm going to print something in order to save it as a PDF. Why do I have to engage in a little ruse.

Discovered today that Instagram had turned on (without my opt-in) automatic AUDIO translation of any reel that shows up in my feed not in English USING AI TO MIMIC THE SPEAKER’S VOICE and WOW it was creepy and upsetting.

You can turn it off in β€œLanguage & Translations” in Settings. πŸ™…πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Writing is thinking.

It's not some marginal boring task you can skip. It's the heart of it.

I agree, but this poll is about how he is perceived by Americans, and we don't get all the internal political news, just his speeches on foreign policy where he has looked stronger than other European leaders, granted there is not much competition

Underneath the name Charlie Hebdo is a pile of bloodied dead bodies representing US citizens killed by ICE. The pile of bodies are collected in one corner to represent the stars of the US flag and the streaks of blood caused by them being dragged across the ground form the red and white stripes. In the foreground an armed skinhead officer with an ICE vest is dragging his latest victim with multiple gunshots to join the pile. The world is watching in horror.

"The church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. If the church does not recapture its prophetic zeal, it will become an irrelevant social club without moral or spiritual authority."
-Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s β€˜Letter From Birmingham Jail’ β€˜The Atlantic’ published this landmark document of the civil-rights movement in the August 1963 issue

While in solitary confinement in April 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. wrote a nearly 7,000-word letter, smuggled out with the help of his lawyer. The Atlantic published it in its August 1963 issue, with the headline β€œThe Negro Is Your Brother.” Read it here:

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.
