Every time I fly into SEATAC the pilot announces we're on initial descent and current conditions are, "46 degrees, light rain, wind out of the north at 10." Every. Single. Time.

Hazy Houston skyline from IAH. It was 85 here today so I’m thankful to be heading home to Colorado. It’s too warm in Colorado for this time of year, but at least not surface of the sun hot like south Texas.

How’s it going? This is how it’s going. Someone hacked into my rental car overnight. Buuuut, she left a note with all of her insurance information. There are still good of people in this world. Accidents happen. It’s why we buy insurance.

I’m in Houston this week for follow up appointments with MD Anderson clinic. Plenty of slack time to explore Herman Park and the Museum District. I even rode the little train that circles the park.

Lichen grows on the rocks outside my window. They need little water, some sun, not to be disturbed. Two things in a mutualistic relationship, as the biologists say. A peaceful way to bring beauty to the world. What keeps them together? Simple biology? Natural selection? I think it’s love.

New Vintage Dinosaur Art! And I'm happy to say that it's more Maurice Wilson from the 1950s, courtesy of reader Alexander Guridov. Wilson's art is remarkably well-observed and beautifully painted for the time, and I might get a bit gushing.

There are principles I was taught as a child and still believe. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team taught me this one. "Americanism is a matter of the mind and heart; Americanism is not, and never was, a matter of race or ancestry."

The obvious root cause of why you bought more books is that you don’t have enough books. Your decision to buy more is correct.

A watercolour painting of a great spotted woodpecker holding onto a tree

I’ve had many people ask the last couple days if I sell my art, and where. I do sell it, I’ve been a professional artist for the last 5+ years. I sell on Etsy, and on my own Website.

The woodpecker I posted on Friday isn’t for sale as it’s for an exhibition, but there will be prints available :)
