Love this. Big computational gains by maximising the use of existing hardware.

Ha, that is certainly unusual to give a talk wearing a white coat. And also interesting view form the front. Almost intimidating with all the lab benches as the audience!

Spatial transcriptomics maps host–gut microbiome biogeography at high resolution Nature Microbiology, Published online: 06 March 2026; doi:10.1038/s41564-026-02286-7Bulk polyadenylation improves the capture of microbial RNA, enabling host–microorganism interactions to be visualized at a high resolution when combined with commercially available spatial transcriptomics platforms.

Interesting editorial on the mixed bag of using AI in research and scientific communication. Nice touch to launch on a turgid AI summary of the theme for illustrative purposes. πŸ˜‰ #MicroSky #AcademicSky

Ah yes, I've seen that too. The tarmac replacement patches. Totally not in keeping, but presumably cheaper.

Must be so depressing to know current F1 season is already a just a glorified big test session for 2027!

I love the scenery in this photo. The opposite of today's commercial lined walls and gravel etc. This just looks they're driving F1 cars on roads between fields!

Yes indeed. Good on them but less so on the physicians who saw the patient before. But then again, it's far too easy to judge retrospectively when yoh have the answer, especially for rare conditions.

Yeah it was more a proof of principle reminder about travel history, not necessarily for this case, as you're right, by the time they presented here, it was sadly too late.

MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine Find out about the MMR vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella, including who should have it, when it's given and possible side effects.

Measles is a highly infectious disease. It can make children seriously unwell, especially young infants and those with weakened immune systems.

The best way to protect your family is by ensuring you and your children are up to date with your MMRV jabs.

Hello, sorry for not directly looping you into the original post!

Out of interest, do you propose to the screen such patients to stratify them to il4/13 blockade? I'm curious about the roll out of such personalised therapy in a relatively rare disease (and so presumably RCTs not realistic).

Thin end of the wedge

Soon every game will get formal drinks breaks, even in mid winter, and before you know it, mid-game adverts will be a regular thing

It's a game of 4 quarters, you know...

Played a small part in this cool study @jem.org.

Identifies myofibroblasts as sources of tissue damaging enzymes (MMP1) in TB granuloma, probably responding to cytokine cues from nearby macrophages.

Question now is: can we target therapeutically to prevent post-TB lung damage?

In science you'd rightly never get away with publishing data without them. I've never worked out why polling should be any different - not that difficult for the public to understand the concept!

Here it's dupilumab (IL-4/13 blockade) in coccidioidomycosis.
