Blackmail
In Beatty, NV, a company has spent the past several years slowly building this *insane* steampunk casino. It's not open yet, but people were inside, actively working on it. A metal octupus wraps its way around the front of the building, stealing the 'E' from the sign, while metal airship sculptures and dozens of gears decorate the outside.

Day 2 of the desert started out not in Death Valley, but in lil Beatty, NV, where we stopped for gas, lunch, the ghost town of Rhyolite and an abandoned mine for rock hunting. Wild donkeys were wary of our presence, and I got to do some proper offroad driving for the first time in over a decade.

Picture taken from the top of a small mountain I scrambled up. Haven't done anything like this in years, was winded as hell and felt amazing.
First day we were hitting the Arizona Hot Springs trail! We didn't go all the way to the springs (it was a couple miles and with some pretty brutally steep portions, and we wanted to stay fresh for Death Valley the next day) but it was *gorgeous.* I scrambled up a mountain~!

The Mesquite Dunes of Death Valley. A photo taken after midnight with a long exposure reveals more light than could be seen by the eye (it was extremely dark for the human eye). The constellation of Orion is centered in the sky, framed by wispy clouds, the belt and 'sword' clearly visible over the sandy dunes. To the left of it is the bright spot of Sirius, the Dog Star. In the distance are a handful of lights, miles away in the tiny settlement of Furnace Creek.
Going to be sharing a lot of pictures, but I have spent the past week out in the desert. Death Valley is in superbloom. The salt flats are a mirror of inch-deep water. The dunes were soft, the stars were beautiful.
My soul is recharged. In this moment of real fear and strife... I needed this.

Many of my comms are impulse buys, but the impulse was to support an independent artist! Don't feel bad about doing what is a road to success for you, nobody's hurting themselves by commissioning you, haha.
I think it's actually an impulse thing! It's much easier to impulsively DM for a comm in the moment, but a form is a formal process that has a lot of points where someone might decide to back out.
