I dive into the boss fights that use nothing but their mechanics to tell you a story, and explore how combat alone can create a more compelling narrative than any cutscene.

Pokémon Pokopia's first in-game event kicks off next week* www.vooks.net/pokemo...
It’s okay he likes it
Turns out it’s just clock based, like Animal Crossing. You can just change your system clock to get the event so it will be available forever.
It's very inconsistent 🙃
It feels like everywhere you look on the eSafety website the wording is a little different and a little more confusing.
Losing my fucking mind trying to make sense of this age verification shit. The definitions in the safety codes are vague and broad (likely by design) and the slapdash language used by eSafety makes it impossible to figure out what is actually relevant
This from the "Phase 2 Industry Codes" overview doc suggests that any provider of any game rated R18+ (not just those with online components) would be required to implement age assurance. So every console storefront, steam, EGS?
It's really unclear what constitutes an "online game". Is it just games with an online component? Games that are primarily or exclusively played online? Games purchased online??
It truly could go either way. I’m honestly not even sure how they’re distributing the event, I don’t *think* there’s any kind of automatic online check-in at boot, and I don’t see anything in the menu that would let you check for events other than mystery gift? It’s weird
I don’t think we know for sure that this event isn’t coming back. It says the Pokémon are only available during the named event, but not that the event is a one time thing.
Curious to see how it all works tbh, hopefully it’s not a one and done
Happy Pokémon Pokopia day! The cheapest stores are Target and Big W. JB Hi-Fi sold out of its first shipment, Amazon's sold out too.

Pokémon Pokopia is out now in Australia. To celebrate, please enjoy this extremely funny screenshot that I forgot to include in my review.
Joke’s on them I can already do maths wrong myself for free
Buying an expensive new PC with a slop processing chip so I can pay $100 a month to Microsoft to do maths wrong
“Apparently the law does not specify how new games need to be packaged in Australia,”
So what are we doing here my guy, what do you think is going to happen
My lawyers would like to point out that according to the in-game happiness gauge all my Pokémon are legally happy. I will be taking no further questions.
Pokémon Pokopia made me care about Kanto. Not many games could do that.
It's a very un-Game Freak story set in a world and a game I loved very much.
It's fun

I appreciate the big swing in trying to have a game in this series in particular start in media res. You get the sense that there's a shared history, a lot of uncomfortable words unspoken between the trio.
But it is clumsy af. DDD and CoM did the multiple protagonist thing wayyyyy better.
My understanding was that they were these kinds of path markers with rope between them alongside a regular path
It seems to be one of those things where little quirks in each region ended up affecting the end result way more than a single region would have.
Though Nintendo still could (and should) have added conditional discounts on the eshop so if you buy one then the other languages are free to claim.
There is leniency! I’ve been doing research into this. You can change the game as long as those changes wouldn’t change the material enough that it would get a different rating.
So a bad word filter wouldn’t really change much, but online play would. The EU has similar things for languages afaik.
They bombed literal school children.
Fuck you, imperialist lapdog
I said exactly this to my partner when I saw the official artwork lmao
