Thank you to everyone who showed up to our meetings over the last two months, spoke out, and made their voices heard.

It's about protecting our neighbors and making clear: Allegheny County will not be an arm of federal immigration enforcement and your local tax dollars will not be spent carrying out this administration's immoral actions on our community.
This ordinance ensures county employees do not inquire about immigration status, share that information with federal agents, or allow ICE to use county databases or house detainees in our jail without a judicial warrant.
Allegheny County has always been a place that welcomes immigrants and is grateful for their contributions to our communities, our economy, and our way of life. Tonight we made that commitment not just intention or policy, but law.
Last night, Allegheny County Council voted 11-3-1 to pass our ordinance limiting county employees from cooperating with ICE/CBP, and I was proud to be a co-sponsor and a YES vote. π§΅

Outside of chatting while walking my dogs, one of the best ways I've gotten to know my neighbors has been informing them about upcoming elections as their local committeeman. Today I filed my petitions to get to serve in that role for another 4 years.
I always enjoy getting to see folks from all over the county at the Allegheny County Democratic Committee endorsement day (and it's a much more relaxing time when you aren't a candidate)!
Happy Women's History Month! This year's theme is, βLeading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future." Thank you to the women who are leading the charge to create communities that are strong and resilient not just for themselves, but for the generations to come.
Tonight the Allegheny County Council ordinance to limit cooperation with ICE passed out of committee with an affirmative recommendation by a 4-3 vote. The bill should be up for a full vote during our Tuesday, March 10th meeting.

Thank you @lebodems.bsky.social, and especially Event Chair Linda Binek, for throwing your always excellent "Blues for Blues" event last night! It was great to see so many friends and sign some petitions to get our candidates on the ballot!
Absolutely. I'm a co-sponsor of the bill and will be supporting it.
Thank you to the faith leaders with @piinpa.org for convening a vigil to mourn those lost and harmed at the hands of immigration enforcement and to pledge to stand up to protect our neighbors.
I've heard loud and clear from my constituents: they're tired of seeing ICE/CBP agents terrorizing people all over our country and they don't want a dollar of our County taxes going to support the bloated, militant agencies. Proud to serve as a co-sponsor of this bill. www.wesa.fm/politics-gov...
I know I don't have to tell you, but my personal boiling point is watching "journalists" print obvious lies from this administration without identifying them as such.
I had a wonderful time speaking to students at Bethel Park High School about what an amazing experience joining the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company can be! Thanks to the students for being such a great audience and asking some really good questions!
So much of what we're seeing unfold in our country right now is driven by extreme hate and anger. It's so easy to succumb to hopelessness or reflect that same hate and anger back, but demonstrations like these serve as a reminder that hope is stronger. Love is stronger. Community is stronger.
This afternoon, I joined hundreds of my neighbors in Mt. Lebanon who braved the cold, wind, and snow for a vigil in remembrance of Renee Good.

Wishing a very Merry Christmas from my family to yours! Arthur found being the center of attention a bit exhausting, but he was a big fan of all the pretty lights.
It was a pleasure to join @hbeckhaas.bsky.social for a fantastic house party today! Hadley is a fierce advocate for common sense gun safety legislation, a fully funded public education system, and economic policies that actually work for working families, who will serve HD44 well!
In light of the terrible act of antisemitism that just occurred in Australia, it is celebrations like this that illustrate the incredible strength and endurance of the Jewish community, and show how they will continue to persevere.
Thank you Dormont and Chabad of the South Hills for putting together such a wonderful Hanukkah celebration tonight! It was truly an honor to light the Shamash.
No matter what laws are passed, trans and non-binary people will continue to exist, and they will always have my support for their autonomy, respect, and safety.
So proud of my students who participated in the Pittsburgh regional Seaperch competition today! It was great to see all their hard work come to fruition.
Term limits have the potential to lead to a more representative County government, reduce complacency in our elected officials, and curb corruption. I look forward to introducing this piece of legislation tonight.

You may not like it Chris, but this is what very serious legislating looks like.
Dan @dangrzybek.bsky.social addresses the Committee on County Council topics.
Thanks to Ben Franklin Elementary for having me for their "Reading with the Stars" event! I had an absolute blast reading to the kids and teaching them about fire safety!
Ramadan mubarak! Wishing a blessed Ramadan full of reflection and community to all who celebrate!
Thank you @repdanmiller.com for highlighting the importance of protecting access to Medicaid. If Congressional Republicans succeed in cutting Medicaid, millions will be stripped of access to the doctors, medications and therapists they so desperately need.
