What that says to me is even the insiders now recognize how totally broken the legislature has become. Dems have stable majorities in a trifecta state, but routinely fail to deliver. Schools are facing fiscal crisis. They couldn't even do 75 year bonds to avert cuts to the ST3 rail projects.
Many legislative bodies limit the number of amendments that can be submitted on the floor. Why does the Dem majority in #waleg allow the opposition party to file an unlimited number, when sessions are short? A useful tool to kill the party’s own bills they don’t actually want to pass? One wonders.
That's what our legislature is designed to do. The bills die in committee or are watered down to nothing, then slowed to a crawl. Its all so they can get away with doing as little as possible to anger their big donors.
If you get into a “who can cut taxes more” battle with the GOP, you’re going to lose because they are far more shameless and antagonistic to the idea of living in a functioning society.
