I only know because I read MANIAC, but von Neumann was obviously invested in Hilbertβs foundations program. GΓΆdelβs work shook him. He locked him self in a room for weeks. He emerged with a second incompleteness theorem and sent it to GΓΆdel who said βOh yeah, I have a proof for that alreadyβ
