Okay, a little background first: yesterday, @screamedthesniper.bsky.social (whos music you should also check out!) recommended the latest release by Zalaam, the project of Amir Yacoub. Amir is, by all accounts and my knowledge, one of few BlackMetal artist from Palestine.

I think I can see why @vanessafunke.bsky.social left these songs off of "Songs Of The Night".
They feel indeed a lot darker, even her voice carries more pathos. That doesn't make them bad songs, they are just very different moodwise.
Still beautiful, though!

Mama cat on the right. Showed up here over a year ago & has made herself at home. On the right is a new arrival who showed up this winter. Likely from an earlier litter. She's desperately tried 2 reconnect with mama cat. & slowly but surely they R bonding again.
