Crazy that was 10 years ago. So much has changed.
If a boat can float, why is it considered difficult to sail across the ocean?
Some numbers are bigger than other numbers. For example, 6 is bigger than 5. But 6 is not bigger than a lot of other numbers, which I find interesting. Some people might not find that interesting, but I can assure you that I do.
How can we even be sure Beethoven was deaf if he is dead now? Something doesn't add up. Maybe he was not deaf.

Debts are, basically, promises of future productivity. Think of it this way. Imagine everyone on earth produces a trillion dollars worth of goods and services a year. And imagine they consume about the same β since of course thatβs what generally happens, we consume most of what we produce, minus a little wastage. Yet 1% of them somehow contrive to convince 99% of them that they still, collectively, owe them a trillion dollars. Well, aside from the fact that someone is obviously being seriously overcharged here, thereβs clearly no way these debts can be repaid at their current value unless everyone produces even more the next year. In fact, if the interest payments are set at, say, 5% a year, theyβll have to produce 5% more just to break even. This is the real burden of debt weβre passing on to future generations: the burden of having to work ever harder, while at the same time, consuming more energy, eroding the earthβs ecosystems, and ultimately accelerating catastrophic climate change at just the moment we desperately need some way to reverse it. - David Graeber
When the debate arose about debt cancellations for people in America, David Graeber wrote the article: After the Jubilee
Here is an extract about debt from the article.

We have become a civilization based on work in itself. We have come to believe men and women who do not work harder than they wish at jobs they do not enjoy are bad people unworthy of love, care nor assistance. It's as if we've collectively acquiesced to our own enslavement."
An extract from the introduction to the Book; Bullshit Jobs by David Graeber!
Capitalism itselfβindustrial capitalism at leastβhas had a very brief historical run. During a mere 200 years, it has nonetheless shown a remarkable ability to come up with threats to the very existence of the species: first nuclear destruction, now global climate change. . There are good reasons to believe it is simply not a viable long-term system: most obviously, because it is premised on the need for continual growth, and economic growth cannot continue forever on a planet with finite resources. . Capitalism that was not based on the need to continually expand production would simply not be capitalism; its fundamental dynamics would change; it'd become something else. Whatever economic system predominates in 50 years, it is very likely to be something other than capitalism. Of course, that something might be even worse. This is why it seems this is precisely the wrong time to give up on imagining alternatives to capitalism: that is, to come up with ideas for what might actually be better. - David Graeber
This is why we need to be talking about Capitalism.
I feel like if there were three of me and one was really high, one was kinda high and the other was fully sober, we'd get a lot done.
