McAuliff was among the 13 Democrats elected to the legislature in Virginia’s elections earlier this month, as part of a blowout victory for the party that gives it firm control of the southern state’s government.
The Virginia Democrats flipped the last Republican-held seat in Loudoun County blue this year when they won #HD30.
John McAuliff was the one to do so, winning this Trump+1 district by two points. This makes him the most successful Virginian named McAuliff(e) this decade

He is literally a transphobe. You don’t give people of color prizes to racists or lgbtq prizes to anti trans bigots. And the “canceling” is the other authors understandably and at personal sacrifice withdrawing from consideration for the prize so not clear how the bigot is the one being canceled.
Assigned Media tracked down every single queer author who withdrew from the Polari Prize after they longlisted a self-proclaimed TERF, and linked to all their books.
These authors showed solidarity and our story is blowing up with traffic from people who want to support them in return.
That’s the strangest part - did they think it was ok? That no one would care?
