I'm very excited! I'm hoping we can get the federal law repealed so the whole west coast can join.

"How a Small Canadian City Tripled Cycling Rates in Just 11 Years" video describes how bikeways increase biking in Victoria, BC. My report, "Good News from the 2022 CRD Travel Survey" (www.vtpi.org/CRDts.pdf) provides more evidence.
Many people want to drive less and bike more, but need bikeways.

I was always under the impression that the calcium and protein in milk were important for the growth and bones of children.
Maybe that was just from years of Big Dairy propaganda.
That Aaron Burr commercial was genius though.

The best pies are savory. I wish I lived in an area that sold more meat pies.
I've never had a bad cheesecake. It has the highest floor of all desserts. It's incredibly versatile. You can add any flavor you want to it and it will work. Key lime cheesecake, yep. Strawberry rhubarb cheesecake, great. Pumpkin cheesecake, superior to pumpkin pie! I need to try Basque cheesecake.

This is brilliant!
OK, the double-beat theory. It goes like this: Because of a longstanding misapprehension about what constituted a full metronome beat in the time of Beethoven and other composers in the Western canon, performers have inherited a tradition of playing a great deal of classical music twice as fast as was originally intended. The theory holds that a single beat historically comprised two clicks of the metronome, not one, which is what musicians are taught today. This suggests that, under the prevailing ideas of tempo, any performer wishing to remain faithful to Beethoven’s composition of the Hammerklavier Sonata, Op. 106, would need to halve the notorious metronome markings for the first movement—slowing down the hand-crampingly fast 138 beats per minute for the half note to a nice, leisurely 69.
The double-beat theory means nothing short of everything. defector.com/are-we-playi...
This is correct. Any candidate cynically “triangulating” on trans kids is a non-starter, and now is the time to say so. There’s still so much time to advance candidates that DON’T suck.
There are no distractions. It's all bad. Systematically stripping trans people of their rights, guys in balaclavas shoving any brown person with a tattoo into a ummarked vans, ending healthcare for millions. It's all in service of fascism and technofeudalism. It's all one thing. That's the point.
It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.
Community Transit here in the Seattle area asked me to narrate a new video series about the importance of public transit and it turned out great! Second ep just dropped.

TIL: When the Original Star Wars Trilogy finally aired on Chilean TV in 2003, the network spliced custom beer commercials into the films themselves to avoid cutting to commercial breaks.

~45% of US corn production is now used to make ethanol, mostly for mixing into gasoline.
That's ~13% of all US crop land already used for energy production.
Using some of the same land for solar panels would capture 50-100 times more energy per acre.
