Had a fun holiday party with the PRIME team! We created our own felt trees, exchanged prime gifts, and shared many laughs. This group is one of the best parts of my job!

It was an honor to spend yesterday at West Texas A&M as the speaker for their Helen Piehl Distinguished Lecture. I met so many nice people and enjoyed great conversations about math. We talked a lot about math learning being cumulative and about the language of math!
It's such an honor to receive the Eminent Researcher Award from Learning Difficulties Australia. While my name is on the award, everything is a team effort! I'm so grateful to the PRIME leads and doc students as well as the teachers and students who participate in our research.

Over the last 9 months, the PRIME team has welcomed Asu to our team! She's been visiting Texas to learn more about math intervention and word-problem solving. As Asu prepares to leave us and return to Turkey, we want to spotlight her! We will miss Asu greatly!

Now, welcome Kerri to the PRIME team! Kerri has spent the majority of her career as a classroom teacher. She is particularly interested in the uptake of evidence-based practices in math, so we are very excited that Kerri has decided to pursue a Ph.D. at Texas. Welcome, Kerri!
We have two new Ph.D. students joining the PRIME team for the fall of 2025. First, welcome Jinyoung! She moved to Austin in August from South Korea. She has a keen interest in math interventions, so she will joining our Grade 4 word-problem tutoring project. Welcome, Jinyoung!
Over the next few weeks, I'll share a bit about our research projects we are implementing in schools. First up is Math Words! With this project, funded by IES, we are implementing modules focused on math vocabulary with Grades 3 and 4 teachers.
