Black and white panoramic photograph of sweeping sand dunes with dramatic light and shadow, revealing intricate wind-rippled textures across the foreground while distant dunes and mountains fade into a hazy horizon
Golden hour photograph of expansive sand dunes bathed in warm amber sunlight, with cool blue shadows pooling between the ridges and a mountain range visible through the atmospheric haze in the distance
Composite photograph of a sunset over the ocean, showing the sun stacked into five flattened disc-like segments — a telephoto compression effect enhanced by atmospheric refraction — captured over two minutes and layered in post-processing against a deep orange sky
For sunset yesterday I walked the Oceano Dunes. I'd hoped for a more interesting sky, but shadows stole the show. The last photo is a composite of taken over two minutes, assembled in post. #sunsetphotography #landscapephotography #sanddunes #oceano

Wow, the colors really set the mood. Brrr. Same question about shutter speed, which I'm guessing was at least 1s to account for the dim light and waves' blur?

Close-up black and white photograph of a waterfall cascading diagonally over a textured rock face, with mist and trees visible in the upper left corner.
Black and white photograph of two streams of water falling down a tall, striated rock face, converging at the base into a shallow pool among dark rocks.
Yesterday I made the short walk to Nojoqui Falls north of Santa Barbara, CA. Here water slides down sandstone in smooth streaks, which I captured in a series of long-exposure shots. LMK if you'd curious to know more about how I got the shot. #santabarbara #waterfall #naturephotography

Mid-afternoon view looking southwest from the hills above Pismo Beach, with sunlight shimmering across the calm Pacific Ocean beneath a partly cloudy sky. Shining through breaks in the clouds, distinct spots of light illuminate the silvery water.
I caught this view of the ocean during a hike yesterday. Amazing how breaks in the clouds illuminated the ocean with waves of light.

I expected quality differences between a glass photo print by @fractureme and a less expensive print by @michaelsstores, and I was right. But the colors surprised me. Even compared to glossy paper and ChromaLuxe aluminum, Fracture's are noticeably brighter and warmer.

Morro Bay is more than Morro Rock. There's also an active fishing and crabbing industry, marine protected areas, and the downtown tourist area.
A note on the latter: I'm looking forward to showing my photos in @galleryatmarinasquare next month.

My sample prints on glass arrived from @fractureme. The colors are so much more warmer & teal compared to aluminum that I wondered if I accidentally sent the wrong file. I look forward to comparing quality when glass samples from another source arrive next week.

Sometimes editing a photo has unexpected results. This week I'm playing with RAW photos to improve my understanding … and have fun playing with color and light. #digitalphotography

A close-up of a single sand dollar shell, taken at an angle to reveal the beach extending to green hills in the distance. The sun is setting, giving the shell an orange tint on the left and blue-green on the right.
Sunsets aren't always about the sun setting. I found this scene yesterday evening while enjoying a casual beach walk at dusk. #pismobeach #sunsetphotography

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
