The House of Lords Digital & Communications Committee just published their report on AI, copyright & the creative industries, and their conclusions could not be clearer.

If Reform had won, Labour's statement would be that this result is a stark reminder we need to listen and learn from voters who rightly feel betrayed by modern politics.
But the Greens won by a comfortable margin, so it's: these voters are stupid and also sinister and, ugh, Muslims
Thank you David, thatβs great to hear / glad you enjoyed it! π
Picked up Bog People from my local library on Friday and powered through it over the weekend. Superb anthology of #folkhorror - no filler, all great tales. Highly recommended.

Used this from Underground Maths today. (undergroundmathematics.org/introducing-...) Prompted great conceptual discussion around zooming in and looking at local properties on curves. It made differentiation from first principles so much easier to grasp afterwards too. Love UM! #MathsToday
Fair, but membership of a marginalised group doesnβt exclude biases of other privilege.
Hundred percent!
Nah, the whole thingβs dancing about observations that read as thinly veiled stereotypes. Thereβs definitely an interesting cultural phenomenon where you get authoritarian gays (France and Germanyβs far right have v high-ranking gays, Theil, etc.) but this isnβt doing that.
What the fuck is that image though π«
Making use of the split tile buttons to complete the square even if the coefficient of x is odd.

Amazing! π
Urgh, that is so grim and upsetting!
*Traineesβ even.
I am finding trainees mileage varies with how open they are to learning about maths! Which I kind of get, as so many of them start the course thinking βright, at least I know the mathsβ and then they come for subject days and we look at actual pedagogy and some of them have a v strong response.
all talent really is? It's one thing that you have a knack for right away. That's all it is. it is a single pea buried in the mattresses of practice. You don't even have to have that one thing.
Harping on talent is how they keep you from trusting you can do it. it's a grift.

I do the worked solutions, so in a way I do!
I give my yr12 pure lot paper homework every lesson and one of themβs just pulled an uno reverse card out of their pocket and placed it on their desk. The gall! π
Oh I canβt even imagine haha. In terms of intonation and pitch, I put the βowβ in βbowed stringsβ. π« π
Getting a note out of anything double-reeded is no mean feat imo π
*reading.
Maybe thatβs why Iβm nowhere near 61% π

I openly cackled ready this. Diabolical! π
Will check this out!
I read an anthology of βnovellas in flashβ once and itβs such a hard form to pull off. From what I read afterwards this one has its whole third act written especially for a novel so avoids some of those pitfalls.
I liked it, but Iβd absolutely recommend DNFing this if the first 30 pages do nothing for you! It continues in that same vein throughout.
The narrative that teens are all phone-obsessed hermits is so damaging and over simplified - we need to celebrate the other narratives like this one: amazing work from the young lads

I loved it too! I absolutely felt it paid off, but could see why mileage may vary on it.
Congratulations!
