My main frustration is how often both SF and Fantasy romanticize monarchies. I'd love to see one fantasy epic where they say, "Fuck restoring the king. It's time for an anarchist Republic!"
I would love to see that twist to Lord of the Rings.

Not a bad point. I was thinking that board games at least aren't as heavily militarized as video games. And there is weird shit like Gloom, the various social deduction games, and Bad Therapist.
I'd also like to see an expansion of what we mean when we say "fantasy" beyond pseudo-Europe stuff.
Yeah, although there seems to be a pretty good amount of that in board games.
When the city repaired it, it magically had a curb cut.
In the 80s, before curb cuts were common, I remember a disabled group in L.A. had been agitating to have one put in a curb of a busy downtown intersection. The city wouldn't.
So one weekend, a bunch of people in wheelchairs took sledgehammers down to that corner and smashed the concrete.
I'm not hard of hearing YET, but I still use the television subtitles all the time, because they help me catch a lot of things that are lost from house noise, actors' accents, and the weird mixing processes used nowadays.
As a bonus, I love knowing what song is playing in the background of a scene
Maybe a little more whimsicality in games overall, even.
Hey I don't know who in games development needs to hear this,
but I am sick of guns y'all
I don't ever need to fire a mid-range assault rifle in a game ever again.
Did you know about the Saint's Row gun that shot bait on people and they'd get eaten by a shark?
More like that pls
So awesome, because thatβs exactly where my brain goes when I see βHoppersβ.
Is there anything preventing you legally from notifying a customer that their information has been accessed by a government request?
This is an enormous block of text, too much even for Bluesky's generous alt-text limit. If you need to read it in full, check out the original post here:

And ultimately, that may be a problem with all our internet servers being subject to the laws of capitalist countries. But be aware of this before trusting Proton too far.
Proton claims that they only do this when there's a legally-binding order from the Swiss:
βProton only provides the limited information that we have when issued with a legally binding order from Swiss authorities, which can only happen after all Swiss legal checks are passed.β
This is kind of breaking my heart. I've long thought of Proton as a safe harbor in these scary times. But apparently not. If you're using them, you should probably take steps to also disguise your payment source.
@proton.me is a fink! Despite all their hype about protecting our privacy, they turned over payment info to the Swiss authorities, who gave it to the FBI so they could bust a #StopCopCity activist. www.404media.co/proton-mail-...
For all the talk about Bogart and Bergman, Claude Rains steals every one of his scenes.
Here's upcoming tour stops. As one of the few people to be talking in a smart and coherent way about #neurodivergence and #kink, I recommend all my fellow ND queerdoes and weirdoes check her out if you're anywhere on this list.

Congrats to @catieosaurus.bsky.social . After much hard work on her part, and much waiting with bated breath on ours, the #ADHD Field Guide for Adults is finally out! Looking forward to reading this!

To my shame, this is one of those books that I still havenβt read. (I have a very long TBR list.)
I have yet to see where the consequences of AI are not absolutely vile. There's also this, where they're traumatizing Indian women by making them go through hours of abusive content to train AI.

I'm calling it--the use of generative AI is antiblack. Internationally. Multiple countries. Multiple coasts. If you fire it up--I judge you.
Okay, so Wizards has finally given in to the inevitable and decided that yes, the 2024 rules ARE 5.5. dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/art...
My work has also been deliberately marginalized in the culture, perhaps by the CIA
This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

Reminder that this Vance-MTG-Carlson-Bannon-Fuentes alliance is the insurgent GOP βgas Jewsβ wing. Never mistake these ppl for allies. The reasons behind their positions (against war in Iran, standing up on Epstein) are not the same as yours. Theirs are based on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Chuck Todd (ick, but stay with me here) declared JD Vance's White House ambitions over today. He says that both Rubio and Vance are now inextricably welded to this war and Trump's policies. Let's leave aside whether that's true and just examine that as an artifact of elite opinion. 1/
To steal a line from Flannery O'Connor, Charlie Kirk would've been a good man if there'd been someone there to shoot him every day of his life.
To my knowledge, Romeo Void is the only band that was led by a fat, brown woman. They didn't go for long, but kicked ass while they were together.
Damn straight it is. And so is Deborah Iyall herself. She's a Native American who, at the age of 14, participated in the occupation of Alcatraz Island, and went on to have a career making and teaching art. You can still check her out on IG:

Clearly this means one thing: We must fund a new military defense initiative to fight off imminent alien terror from those planets who are determined to destroy our Terran way of life.
